Re: Frame design mental block
Hi Mike, you in the cabin yet? I have done the painted white mount a number of times, it works really well. Yes, you normally paint the surface before cutting, but that will show the white core. I have used Plaka paints and also sprayed PlastiKote in silver which worked well. The spray gives an even ...

Re: The driftwood look.
How interesting. I have a propane torch for use as a weed killer (works well and is strangely therapeutic) Will have to give this a try after the hols and see what I can do. http://shousugiban.com/shou-sugi-ban-101/ And a video too. A bit messy but no more onerous than many other hand finishes. http...

Re: WORKSHOP
Hello Mike, long time no speak. That is an awesome looking building, good move! I did indeed have a Keops cabin with only floor and roof insulation as recommended by Keops themselves. The 45mm log with top and bottom insulation is how they have their own offices. I found it to be more than adequate ...

Actually just occurred to me that it would be bad if Google did mount cutters, we would all be out of work!

Re: Pricing Software For Mac
In a way you make my point. No criticism of unix/linux/xxxxixux per set was intended. The great dream for Unix back in the day was to write once run anywhere. Proprietary systems (where the hardware and software were designed to work together) were dead. What we have ended up with is proprietary sys...

I have a Fletcher. Solid as a rock and easy to use. Bought mine second hand so don't know how hard its life was but it is undemanding and reliable.

Re: Tower of London ceramic poppy!
I think a soft focus b and w photo of one of the Tower's towers behind the poppy would provide good context. Wasn't the furore about eBay actually media making? I thought eBay disallowed it as the lady didn't have the poppy in her possession when she advertised it. There was a discussion on LBC radi...

Re: Pricing Software For Mac
I did 30 years in IT. Can be very creative. I started as a programmer as I like making things. It was like making things electronically. Always best to know what you want before you start looking but cost of acquisition and ownership has to be included as one of the requirements. Most large corporat...

"as I would never let one of those things in here" How strange. Always think apple stuff is so overpriced with the brand then sucking you in. Just got a shiny new PC, though admittedly not so keen on Windows 8. Works great for me at a fraction of the price. Loads of software available too.

Re: warped frame
Agree with SteveN. Quite common now on narrow mouldings. Tend not to worry too much though as they straighten with glass and backboard in. Always check the wider ones before cutting, often have to work around bent sticks, often just a foot or two at one end. Its a bit like buying timber from B and Q...

That's a good solution James. How did you attach the inner frame to the rear glass?
