Re: Oak supplier advice
Thanks Jo, Is their oak noticeably better? I wondered if all oak used for mouldings had maybe gone this way now My understanding is that the global market for oak has had a shift since 2020 so there has been some change in sourcing oak for the UK moulding market. Some is far more noticeably “pink” ...

Re: Looking for a company to make quantities of frames
As you don’t seem to be getting any leads on here, it might be worth contacting the moulding supplier (I’m assuming Mainline) and asking them if they have any contacts who could help you. They’re far more likely to have knowledge of a framing business with the kind of set up you’re after.

Re: Any way to ship a frame with glass?
You don't say where it is being shipped to, which would alter advice offered. For overseas shipping there are dedicated art shipping companies often based near major (and some minor) airports. They would usually be able to construct a crate to suit the framed piece and arrange collection and so on. ...

Re: Newspaper - Direct Contact Overlay
Nice bit of Optium Acrylic on there and Vintage is right, it will give the effect of it floating without support rather than the visual effect of the wrap itself.

Go for it! You absolutely won't regret it. Especially as it is back in a hotel on the Strip. If you book a room with their special deal then you save on the resort fee, which can add a lot to the cost of your stay. Book as many classes as you can across a range of subjects and as many social events ...
Re: Klucel G.
I'm glad the Grumble thread I signposted for you via the Guild's forum was useful Justin - and useful to have linked it here too. I'm of the same mind as John (JKX) on this one regarding using Klucel G. Despite the thorough testing that is discussed on that thread, it also helps highlight some of th...

This is the black version. It’s not to everyone’s taste, but I think it’s different and subtle enough to look pretty good. IMO of course

Re: Skull and crossbones frame moulding
Flagship Framing did a moulding with tiny skulls all over it in four colours. Unfortunately they've gone out of business now, but it was one we used in 3 of the colours at various times.
We've still got 2 lengths of the silver version if that is any good to you. Moulding is 52mm wide.

Re: Hollow ground service for Morso blades
We use Mainline and are very happy with their service. They use a genuine Morso machine for sharpening.
Blades are collected and delivered back to you.

Hi Nicola
The edit function disappears fairly quickly, but Moderators can still edit posts for you.
I've done that now to show that the Morso has sold.

Re: Framing workshop vs retail - planning restrictions and definitions
From memory we had to show we took orders and then customers returned to collect manufactured goods at a later date for the vast majority of what we did. A few pick up items were fine as long as the percentage of that kind of thing as part of our overall sales was low. Can’t see you having a problem...

Re: Framing workshop vs retail - planning restrictions and definitions
Some council owned light industrial units have restrictions on allowing customers to visit the premises - ones near us can only work via internet sales for their garden furniture that they make. But that is an unusual restriction, although it is worth checking. This one was put in place to avoid dam...

Re: Gilding with Gold Leaf. An Online Video Course
Giving this a bump as it has been mentioned in another topic. Dermot has been generous enough to share much of his knowledge on the Forum and his posts are well worth a search and a read. This course is a great stepping stone for those wanting to get into gilding.

As suggested, the topic has been moved. I've also "bounced" Vintage's post about his online course in Announcements so that it is easy to find if anyone is looking.
