Re: gummed tape vs self adhesive tape

I think it will come to personal preference. No doubt gummed tape done with a little bit of practice is very good. If you go down the self adhesive route, choose a good quality tape, some end up a gooey mess in a matter of months. With a good quality self adhesive always burnish it well, and you sho...

Re: gummed tape vs self adhesive tape

Grays, IFGL, do you use the blue or orange, or is there a third option?

Re: gummed tape vs self adhesive tape

With the sekisui Lion and wessex seem to stock different versions. One has blue text inside the roll one has orange text. Currently got roles of both on the go and obviously my mind has gone blank to which I prefer. :head:

Maybe you could let us know a bit more information regarding the frame and why it needs a sub frame...guessing because of size?

Best Adhesive

I need to stik a 1m by 1.6m 5mm sheet off Kappa onto MDF. Not sure if it is branded Kappa, but it's white plastic under a removable blue polythene protective coating. I used some clear silicone from the local 'bits n bobs of everything' shop. IT did stuck but when tested it peeled off with little re...

Blackcore

I use Arqadia mountboard, but find that the face paper on the blackcore is about as good quality as photocopy paper. Any recommendations for a brand with a solid quality white facepaper.

Re: Cannibalistic Morso

My Morso is now very happy! My neighbour only had half an hour to spare today before jetting off to South america so he decided to just drill and bolt on a reinforcement plate, no need to take any length off the cross bar, had to widen the gap by a couple of mm to fit the plates in. Feels brilliant ...

Re: Replicating a moulding

Jamesnkr I warn you now, gilding is highly addictive. For the last 12 months I've been dabbling in it, I've only let 2 frames leave the workshop. You'll need more than a weekend. So many possibilities, though will be easier if you've got something in mind to replicate. I always start with the aim of...

A suggestion..

Would it be worthwhile to have section set up for hand finishing. Where people post questions about hand finishing, techniques, tips etc?

Discuss :D

Cheers Ratty, Happy Friday

Cannibalistic Morso

The horizontal bar that is part of the pedal mechanism which pivots and is attached to the frame of the Morso is wearing holes in the Morso body. Both bolt holes on the body have worn to a diameter of about 25mm. Amazingly the morso still works fine and my neighbour in the unit next door is going to...

Brilliant, thanks Pepper that's the ticket. All sorted. In the December madness this was forgotten about, but it's good to get it sorted.

Also my names actually Simon, Louise was my old business partner. Don't think I can change it on here though.

The company that sharpened them screwed them up and admitted that they had a problem with the guy sharpening them, this was 6 months ago. Since then all my blades have been perfect on return from them...apart from this one set. I'm wondering if they overheated and warped, if that happens is it fixab...
