Re: Glass fish

Tried to get a photo of the finished product, you can almost see the floating effect but it looks a lot better in real life.

Went for the acrylic option (used ordinary acrylic to keep costs down for the customer, looks good though).

Thanks for the suggestions!

Re: Reverse bevel for a double mount

I've never come across a reverse bevel on a mount before, is it a fairly common thing to do?

Re: A massive THANK YOU to Ashworth & Thompson

I would definitely second that. They're one of two suppliers we use all the time. I've found myself calling the guys in Edinburgh for advice on loads of different things, some of which really had nothing to do with them, and they've always been happy to put up with my stupid questions. Especially wh...

Re: Web site creation software

I can't recommend anything higher than squarespace.com They have some nice templates which are completely customisable and they can do some really clever things. Can also take card payments etc. Their customer support is top notch too. And you get a free domain name! Not affiliated or anything, just...

Donations to charity

Hi, If you don't know, we run a framing workshop which provides work placements for people needing a bit of extra support getting back in to work. If you're interested, there's more information here: http://www.turningpointscotland.com/what-we-do/mental-health/rosies-social-enterprises/ If anyone ha...

Glass fish

Hiya, Looking to pick people's brains with mounting some funny bits again! A customer brought in this glass fish. She wants it floating in front of the mount in a box frame of some description. Obviously she wants it suspended in mid-air with no visible support, but I've ran out of the miniature ant...

Could you just cut a new bigger mount with an aperture for the photo and an aperture for the logo and place it right on top of the existing mount?

Done it with a few things, not sure how it would go with this one...

Re: Bits stuck under glass!

I have about 20 guys on work placements who can deal with thing like this, so not a problem for me at all! On a serious note, I've always just seen it as part of the framing process. There's something quite therapeutic about spending time dusting out a frame before assembly. I've tried getting some ...

Re: Morso blades

We have 3 sets between 2 machines, so an extra set would definitely be helpful. Trying to explain that to the guys who would be paying for them is maybe going to be another issue. How long would a set of blades normally last before needing sharpened? Thing here is that they're getting used a lot. We...

I was worried that might be the case...

Guess I'll just have to wait 'til the other set come back. Just thought I'd ask in case anyone had a magic way to sort it.

Cheers,

Morso blades

Hi, The blades on both my morsos seems to have developed a few chips since they were last sharpened. Most annoyingly, they both have one right at the end of the blade which means that each time I cut anything with it is chews up the corners making the lengths unusable. I've got a spare set of blades...

Re: False reductions

I know a few places have a model store at their head office where they sell everything at 'full price'. They're really only for trying out different layouts etc, but in theory the public could go and buy things, which is (or at least was at the time) enough to qualify as things having been on sale a...

Not very.

About 3"x1". Quite an awkward shape, has one flat side which they want facing out, the other sides are like broken bits of concrete.

Getting framed with a certificate too.

Piece of Berlin wall

Did a quick search and noticed that a lot of people have framed these, but not sure of the best way to mount it.

Anyone have a good way to do it?

Thanks,
