Re: best way to seal/package frames

I think that you may be thinking about shrink wrapping. This involves some investment in equipment, so you probably will need to consider if your volume of production will justify the investment in the equipment and materials. Also you we need to consider what thickness of film you are going to use....

De-greasing photographs before heat sealing

Is there a recognised safe method for degreasing a large volume of photographs before heatsealing? I've just had an enquiry for dry mounting and heat sealing a large, but much handled old photographic collection.

Promotional CD rom, or DVD.

Large companies often give away CD roms and DVD's to promote their products and services, which suggests to me that bulk copying of CD's, or DVD's must be relatively inexpensive. Obviously professional creation of the content would not be cheap, but what about if you created your own content? I don'...

Re: Promotional stuff with ready-mades.

Most of my ready mades are not particularly expensive, so I don't go to so much trouble. I just supply screw eyes and cord, or D-rings for larger frames. I suppose, I could include a business card, but for me, ready made frames are not something which brings in much money and customers who buy ready...

Re: Cut to size MDF hardboard with hangers - Supplier Neede

I actually meant MDF Hardboard (3mm/4mm) for the back of my box frames..........when trying with some sample sawtooth hangers with twin rosettes, I couldn't fix them properly. I don't think they are supposed to be hammered, but they pushed through onto the otherside, and were exposed, piercing my p...

Re: Self adhesive mountboard

I'm not a big fan of self adhesive board, but if customers will not pay the cost of dry mounting, then I offer self adhesive board as a cheaper alternative. For this reason price is my primary consideration when buying such boards. Therefore I buy the Simons MB/KEY/40, because it's as cheap as chips...

Re: Cut to size MDF hardboard with hangers - Supplier Neede

I use this company. They make them to order, so you can specify whatever sizes you need:

The Art Centre,
Florence Road Business Park,
Kelly Bray,
Cornwall,
PL17 8EX

01579 383 523

I hope this helps.

What you offer to your customers vs sales, profit & cashflow

I have just finished preparing my last years accounts. This year for the first time, I have been using various key performance indicators, (percentage relationships between different analysis columns on my monthly balance spreadsheets), to help me better understand the financial management and perfo...

Re: morso problem (for sale)

Hi Dave, I think in view of the latest information, you can revise the value of your machine accordingly. The important question now is whether the measuring system for the VMM can be fitted to the existing Morso fixing holes. If it will not fit to the existing holes, you can still get the VMM suppo...

Re: which black paint?

I use exterior masonary paints too! The brand I get depends upon which shop I happen to be passing at the time. Most exterior masonary paints are reasonably durable and are usually acrylic based, some are better pigmented than others.

Re: morso problem (for sale)

The right hand table from Framers Corner for their VMM machine will mate to your Morso perfectly and will cost around £114 plus carriage for the arm complete with measuring system That sounds interesting! Any chance of posting a photo, so we can so what this arm and measurement system looks like? T...

Re: Pricing mounts. Advice please.

giving the shop an amount of precut mounts on a sale or return basis Hi Lampie, Sorry, but someone needs to put you wise on this one. Nobody does sale, or return on mounts, it's a losing proposition. There's not enough profit for a small operation to share the profit with anyone on a sale, or retur...

Re: Joining mouldings

Hi Allistair, If you are glueing several mouldings inside of each other, there are big advantages in doing it the other way round as it saves having to worry about the glue having to span too large a gap. It is helpful for stacked mouldings for hand finishing to be solidly glued together to prevent ...

Re: Home and a seperate Business phone line : (

How does diverting your business line to your home phone number save you money? I'm assuming that you will still need to pay for having the business line, otherwise you will no longer have the business number, or can you close the business line and still use the number? Is there something here I don...

Re: Joining mouldings

I do a lot of stacked frames and the method of fixing will depend upon the actual mouldings used. However it is a simple process once you have done a few. I always make the outer frame first, having acurately measured all the mouldings and acurately calculated the size of the outer frame. All the fr...

Re: morso problem (for sale)

You might only get £200 for it, as it is. I know that won't be what you wanted to hear, but that's based on someone getting the measurement system for about £300 and therefore getting the complete Morso together for £500. Sorry if that's not welcome news.

Re: morso problem (for sale)

The scale with the EZY system is the wrong way round That's correct! The EZY scale and stop are both unsuitable for the Morso and new ones would need to be improvised. Axminster power tools sell stick on plastic scales, but the stop would probably need to be fabricated. Sorry, but this might put of...

This thread has been relocated from the help section to the adverts/sales/wants section. I wish you seccess with selling this item. Oooo, I like that! What a neat bit of kit! I've got an old Stanley framers vice, but it only camps on tha very thin area of the oter surface of the frame, which is sometimes a PITA.
