Re: deep deep box frames

The only one I know if is the Rose and Hollis barewood Obeche "Very Deep Box" moulding. Have a look on there website.
You won't need a stand for a 100mm deep frame, it will stand up on its own, I would have thought!

Re: Undermount

@girlfromkent if you go to www.larsonjuhl.co.uk they have just put up a series of webinars. Have a look at the one by Jon Price GCF about hinging artwork.

Re: Undermount

@girlfromkent if you already have the FATG study guide, then follow it. It's only the beginning.. No, never mount on the window mount, always on the undermount. Sandwich = make a book hinge, mount the work on the undermount, close it, position glass on top. Then tape all edges together. It's then re...

Re: Undermount

I book hinge an undermount as standard practice, always using the same quality as the mount. It's not considered good practice to mount work to the window. I use Nitto/Art white self adhesive tape for the book hinge, or white paper gummed tape, as required. For mounting artwork nearly always the sam...

Re: Bendy bevel cuts

I did buy some 015's at some point, but don't have a problem with 1500-2500 micron boards with them. Any thicker and I'd use the 015's.
Have you checked the depth of your cut into the slip? Could this happen from having the blade cutting too deep? Just a thought...

Re: Latest frame and some progression

I'm sure that Dermot while be able to give a critique of the frame, technically. I think what you're doing looks great. My only thought would be to look at darker mount colours. I recently bought a framing book by Greg Perkins, amazon I think, all about the design aspect. It's worth having a look at...

Re: Rose&Hollis "very deep box section"

Hi Jo I only have a morso, no chop saw, so restricted by height. My first test was a disaster. I joined them separately and attempted to join each section afterwards. They didn't match up. -I'm assuming the two profiles have to be joined in the length and then cut? Using a chop/table saw? -The profi...

Re: Tape free art mounting

Jon Price (GCF) did a hinging demo last year in Stratford. He showed a technique where you use lengths of your preferred tape folded in half at the top, bottom and sides which are secured at the corners, out of sight under the mount. Hard to explain, I'll post a pic if I can find it.

Have you tried adjusting the bolts in the handle, in picture E left hand side? One of the bolts on mine shifted(as there is room for adustement) and caused a similar issue.

Re: Basic hobby set up?

Wow!Respect Rainbow! I just looked up the Nobex thingy. You cut frame mitres with that? I guess you dont get asked for 20 kit frames very often.Fair play. The morso isvone of my favourite tools. Foot operated, blades that can take your fingers off...whats not to like ??
