I book hinge an undermount as standard practice, always using the same quality as the mount. It's not considered good practice to mount work to the window. I did buy some 015's at some point, but don't have a problem with 1500-2500 micron boards with them. Any thicker and I'd use the 015's.
Have you checked the depth of your cut into the slip? Could this happen from having the blade cutting too deep? Just a thought...

Jon Price (GCF) did a hinging demo last year in Stratford. He showed a technique where you use lengths of your preferred tape folded in half at the top, bottom and sides which are secured at the corners, out of sight under the mount. Hard to explain, I'll post a pic if I can find it.

Polyvine do some good top coats, dead flat matt and satin and I think NYAF uses a wax version too

Have you tried adjusting the bolts in the handle, in picture E left hand side? One of the bolts on mine shifted(as there is room for adustement) and caused a similar issue.
