Re: Lion Event.... the afterglow.

Thanks for all the kind comments on this thread. It is quite a tricky thing to come up with a useful seminar for such a diverse audience (yes I know they're all framers, but from pre-start up to very successful and well established). I have been asked to run a similar seminar at the Framers Forum me...

Re: Help fixing shoddy job?

Oh Dear - what a mess I am particularly concerned about the canvas glued onto the board . . . . . In view of the time-frame, what about taking them to a real framer, and seeing what can be salvaged. I'm sure there will be someone on the forum who is fairly close to you, who may take pity on you, and...

Are you coming to the Lion do? If so this is one of the things I am covering in my seminar.

So I'm not going to steal my own thunder by spilling all now!

Re: Can’t afford the Rolls Royce solution, so...

I think it is true that a larger than average (for all business sectors) number of entrants to the framing business do not "treat it as a proper business" from the off. There are generally two schools of thought when setting up a business. 1. Spend as little money as possible, put huge amo...

Re: Hands Up Who’s going to the Lion Event

You will have the opportunity to have about 4 hours worth of quality training, see the full range of equipment and moulding that Lion offer, and to network with others from the industry. This is a fantastic opportunity and I think you will benefit far more than you imagine. Yes, I know it will cost ...

Re: Can’t afford the Rolls Royce solution, so...

Like most business set ups, you will have to shell out some cash to get started. The problem is if you don't invest in at least the basic professional kit, then you won't be able to deliver very efficiently when you do get some business in. You mentioned in an earlier post that you would be wanting ...

Re: Bad Back - Advice Sought

Hi Adam
Yes I only wear them in the privacy of my own workshop! But they do help a great deal with posture, which in turn helps reduce back pain.

There are various videos on the mbt.com site which explain it all

Re: PPL

I think the difficult bit to get one,s head around, is that if I purchase a CD (so the artist has been paid) and play that CD over and over again at home, that is fine, I don't have to pay PRS. If I use the CD as the backing track for dancers, and sell tickets for people to see the dancers, then I s...

Re: Customer Access

There are, of course other options that are part way in between. Some Framers have been successful with a regular one day a week market stall. Or to work with a suitable retailer - perhaps a gift shop, or interior design shop, to provide the samples, pricing system and collect and deliver. My first ...

Mark, according to the PPL website you can legally listen to Radio 4 through a personal headset. Turn it up and it will drown out the EUROPAP.

Re: I need room for my tabs

I sometimes use a small square flat topped moulding for this purpose. If you cut it upside down, and the wrong way round in the Morso, the stepped effect on the back of the frame looks quite neat when it is all taped up, you can also staple through the rebate part to attach it. Does that make sense?...
