Don't think I can help you with the supplier but is this is what you are looking for perhaps someone else will recognise it and be able to help you.
If it is still made I would be interested in knowing the supplier as well. Best of luck.

Re: Construction method of Glass box / case ?
Never seen a case of this style made with lead folded around the edge of a butt joint. The method used by the majority of case makers (using this technique) is to use 2 strips and then merge the lead together with a suitable moulding tool. I used a bright steel round bar and just massaged the corner...

Re: Construction method of Glass box / case ?
Lead Strip with an adhesive backing, which is used for faux leaded windows is available through the glazing trade. The most common method of making a glass cover using this type of edging strip is a silicone adhesive bonded case, the last time I saw some actually made was by Red Kite Glass, Newtown....

Got to American to naturally think of cotton, could have been linen. I suppose it is the grade of cellulose/lignin you are looking for. I failed on that question some years ago and gave up.

Re: Greetings from Barry @ Dream Keepers Display Products
Hi Barry, looked at your website with interest. I spent 30 or so years involved with framing 3D objects and displays using transparent covers, though retired I still like to keep my eye on what is going on. Whilst working I tried to keep one eye on developing new techniques and one eye on the expect...

WW Sweethearts cushion in Kensitas silk cig.cards
Got hauled out of retirement to make a case and frame this 2 sided sweethearts cushion made up from a complete set of the silk cigarette cards from Kensitas cigarettes, depicting all regimental insignia. The client, a picture framer himself, who had commissioned me to do a number of subjects requiri...

Re: Comparison of different types of wood stain / wood dye
I used to buy the powders for mixing my own spirit stain at Morrells here; http://www.morrells.co.uk/ the website does not mention this product but I was able to get them from their trade counter. Although there were standard wood finishes, d.oak, mahogany they also supplied black, van dyke brown, r...

3D Framing Old Style
Spent a week in Edinburgh, and despite a camera ban I was very kindly allowed to take a photo of this very early example of 3D framing. It is, I think a method I never expected to see used. I am fairly certain that the method is based on the pre-silicone aquaria method of putty and welded angle fram...

Re: What is an acrylic claw please?
When I first started making glass cases I was travelling the antique markets, the market smaller because it was pre-internet and the antique jewellery trade sourced their sales furniture from fellow stall holders. I have seen the hand of good quality manikins used as display furniture to great effec...

Re: FATG Educational Programme
Just run through it, but as a retiree does not seem suitable to to complete. Shortly after retiring I thought that my knowledge as a 3D framer might be of value to start at least a basic understanding of the potential of 3D framing to an important industry that supports the interior decor market. On...

Re: How long have you been a framer?
Depends what you term being a framer. Never intended to be a Picture Framer, I started framing 3D artwork in the mid 1970's, at that time I was putting non-durable art into glass cases and knew nothing about picture framing or the supply industry connected to it, by association with the antique trad...

Re: french repro mirror frame
Do you use thixotropic or pourable silicone for taking your master mould? If your silicone mould is a block then the undercuts are more difficult to de-mould. I always tried to make my production moulds a 1/4 in. profile of the model, from pourable silicone. This made the silicone easier to peel off...

Décor Boom 1980's-90's???
Décor Boom 1980's-90's??? Was there a décor boom through the 1980's and 90's and if so does it matter? I was a war baby, who grew up on a large tenanted farm, part of a family steeped in the traditions of farming, but by @ 1975, newly married, I was beginning to realize that the future mapped out me...

Re: Spring Fair
In the late '70's I had taught myself a method of making glass cases, graduating through epoxy resin to the unknown and difficult to source mystery substance 'Silicone Sealant'. I made glass cases that came out of the frame, rather than the chosen method of hiding a cumbersome box behind a picture f...

Nice job and well done, I never felt comfortable about framing complex items such as firearms made of wood and metal in sealed displays. Even if the customer had specified that access was not needed I would try to sell the option of a Front Lift Off cover or as you have called yours a 'sliding frame...

Re: securing glass
Silicone can be used to secure glass into frames both neatly and without mess by using masking tape. The tape needs to be placed in such a way that it can be stripped out with the wet/uncured silicone on it, without risk of falling back on the glass. To allow the silicone to cure on the tape will le...

Re: Sorry, Another Medals Query
Having spent many years making commercially priced displays for interior decorators, buying artifacts from the second hand trade, I became familiar with the dilemma of a quick fix in relation to the value of an object that might change in the future. I know that many of my competitors were less trou...
