Re: Wanted, anyone selling a tab gun?

I've got a spare Fleximaster (green) and Framemaster (black). You could have the two for £50 + postage. PM me if you are interested

Re: Work space setup

Try to think in terms of workflow, and minimise travel within the workshop. For example; Store glass where it is easy to get it straight in the door (4'x3' sheet) and into storage without turning any corners. Then have glass cutting area near to glass. Store mountboard near to mountcutter, put under...

Re: Oil Painting on Carboard

On cardboard, and slightly bent? I would certainly put it under glass, either with a mount or a fillet to keep it from touching the glass.

Re: getting a Morso up the stairs

If you want to make it REALLY easy, borrow a sack trolley with stair climbing wheels.

Otherwise no problem for 2 averagely strong people. My tip is to find someone stronger than you!

Re: What Would You Suggest!?

My belief is that we should educate the customer as to what the options are, and give our recommendation, but seek the final confirmation from the customer. £55 isn't a lot of money, but does the customer perceive the print as valuable or potentially valuable? I would question the customer, and deci...

Re: Prices?

Hi Custard You make some good points, and I think in general most of them are not wrong. It's true, the bespoke framer is becoming more and more marginalized, because frankly much of the 'middle market' has got cheaper alternatives. Good quality ready made frames, and the quasi-bespoke offering from...

Re: Glass cutting optimisation

I have a really effective glass cutting optimisation programme. As I cut glass on the excalibur, I put the unused portion in size order (shortest side) in the glass pile. Each time I want to cut a piece of glass, I select the smallest one that will do the job. In your example picture, there are some...

Re: Beware This Company

It can often be frustrating when suppliers do not live up to expectations. I am certainly not an easy customer to deal with, or a push-over, as I have extremely high expectations, and strive to maintain them. Where a supplier has upset me, I will make it VERY plain to them why, and give them the opp...

Re: Business performance indicators / benchmarks

This is a huge topic, and one that I have spent much of my professional life dealing with. So to kick off the reply, I have copied and pasted some relevant parts from a book I am currently working on. I hope it makes sense as a reply to this post. Business Performance Ratios Industry business perfor...

Yes, I do get a few calls asking to speak to Mr Gesso or Mr Bole. . . .

Sorry, they're out at the moment, can I take a message?

Is my normal response.

Re: Keencut Overcuts

Just a thought Vince If you are only experiencing tiny overcuts, and they are not consistent, it may be to do with the lack of consistency in your hand movement when you 'plunge' the blade into the board. I spent weeks trying to work this one out once, and then discovered that the bench was a bit hi...

Re: Starting up

There's a bit of a theme building up here, and I am going to agree with it. In the present economic circumstances there are loads of good second-hand machines to be had, and most picture framing equipment lasts a very long time. Grab yourself a second-hand bargain, and keep hold of some of your cash...
