Re: What Glass????????

Hi Daisy As far as the pricing goes, this is my advice. When dealing with 'premium glass' switch from a multiplier or % mark up to a CASH MARGIN. If your normal mark up is (say) 5x materials, and the glass costs £2, then the sale price is £10, and you have a GP of £8. For premium glass, if you do th...

Re: Workshop Bench

I find it is SOOO much easier to find the board you want when they are stored vertically.

If you dont want them to bend, then make the sections smaller, or put more boards in each section.

Re: Flexi gun servicing problem?

Ive got an Omer flexi gun(from Lion) Good piece of kit, but I find, even with the semi rigid tabs, that it is best suited for ready mades. I also have the fletcher pneumatic that fires the framemaster points.(From Lion) VERY pleased with that one - highly recommended, if a little pricey.

Re: ATG stickyness

I use the ATG gun a lot, and have no real problems with it. When sticking a double mount together, for instance, I use about 30-50mm of ATG near to the bevel, in the middle of each side of the apeture, and about the same amount at the outside corners. I then use PVA glue dots on the rest of it. Beca...

Re: Fitting fillets

Interesting how the same thing can be achieved in such different ways . . . . Here's my normal approach, although it does vary with the style/size of the fillet. Reverse bevel cut on CMC. Measured with Filletmaster. The fillet frame is then put together face up on the bench, with a tiny bit of maski...

On the other hand Adam, why not just put a piece of mount board behind the glass in the Excalibur then it won't scratch?

Re: Typical Turnaround ?

Nigel Yes there were a whole load of sweeping statements in my post, and not meant as any kind of swipe at you! Merely to get people thinking about the other side of the coin. But the fact remains, as you say yourself, that there are only so many frames that you can do in a week. I guess that in you...

Re: Typical Turnaround ?

I've just read through this thread again, and noticed Adam's reference to time management in his original thread. I think it is bad time management to take any longer than necessary fulfilling a job for a customer. As Robo said, they are less likely to pick it up promptly if you have taken 3 or 4 we...

Re: Another new farmer .........

Welcome to the forum That's an impressive first attempt at framing! Well Done  I agree with Ormond, Cut a new white mount, leaving 7-10mm of the existing black mount visible, and that presentation will be much improved. As for rules, they are there for a reason. (To be broken by people who hav...

Re: Typical Turnaround ?

My standard turnaround is 1 week. Having a shop we get interrupted very often. If the customer is coming in for a chat, or a casual enquiry, then I talk to them as I work. If they are there to do business, then I stop and concentrate on them (until the phone rings). If I know I haven't got something...

Re: How to cut straight using a Morso Guillotine

Hi Nick Welcome to the forum. I don't really understand your question, or your description of your Morso. There are lots of different models of Morso, so yours may not be a standard picture framing type machine (Morso F). I suggest you search for Morso, on Youtube, there are a number of videos of ma...

Re: GUNNAR F1-XL Hybrid

You can run your Mac as a pc through bootcamp. Or you can get software called parallels that let's you run a fully working windows pc inside your Mac. The advantage of the software, is that you can use pc and Mac at once. I'm sure this would work with the cmc.

Re: how to frame this

Difficult to say exactly from the tiny picture on my screen, but I would suggest. Outer frame to be darker, and preferably bigger - perhaps a copper tone, or a brown that would work with the mountains, and the inner colour lighter and more neutral, perhaps one of the lighter tones from the sky or th...
