Re: Framing vinyl records and record sleeves
Please, no commercial adhesive tapes. My "magic wand" method to attach the album cover is to fold a 2 ply mat in half, that fits into the cover and glue that folded over board to the backing mount board. The cover then can then slid over the unattached "flap" of the board. The re...

I wanted to find out if gold slips should directly touch the artwork face.
This type of request is a "sorry, I cannot help you" situation.

Re: Gold Slip / Should it touch the artwork?
When slips require being close to or touching artwork, then the recommended tape is the white acid free gummed paper tape. I agree with that comment, MOST if the time. The caveat here is that the slip, fillet, rebate, etc., is that they will be in direct contact with art made with oil pastel. The a...

My first choice would be compressed air from a compressor or a can.
Before the digital age, negatives were used to produce photo prints. Look into a blower/brush such as the one example below.

Now we all know the rest of the story. Oil pastel on paper without ant glazing is a no-go in my book. Even with a binder of oil or wax, it should be protected from the environment. If you are willing to take on the liability, I would rather use the metal faced tape over the porous 100% cotton board.

i glued my guitar neck which had snapped off at around a 80 degree break with titebond. that was 10 years ago and still as solid as ever. the neck is under huge tension, im sure much more than a mitred frame? Yes, but your project is a "scarf" joint and not a corner mitered joint. Most gl...

Re: Jumbo mount not big enough
With many materials available up to 2438 (96") there are many possibilities available. The downside is that the color choice will be somewhat limited. painting the board or covering with fabric is another option. 4 ply rag is available up to 2640mm (104"), at least in the US. Fabric can al...

What is the reason for the need to "rework" the joining process? My assumption is that the frame corner joints are not holding and thus cracking. What is the "drying time" between the frame joining and the installation of the art? With a background in woodworking, the mitered joi...

Re: Vacuum Press
Fold marks are a tricky discussion topic. It all depends on ... Paper has a memory and as such has to be modified in some manner. Humidification of the paper is the first step. The paper then has to be "reformed" flattened at the crease with the moisture removed. In a vacuum press situatio...

You should have requested all of the basic information prior to starting a custom order. Name, address, phone number. An Email address simply is not enough to go by.
If you did not have a deposit or prepaid in full order, you now know why most framers do.

Re: Bevel Cutting Jombo Mountcard
If you have a manual mount cutter with a track section that can be taken off of the body of the cutter, no problem. In just about 40 years of being a picture framer I have done this numerous times. Working from the back of the board, lay out the cut lines with attention to extending them beyond the ...

I am then assuming that it is low end reproduction art. I would drape hinges from the top using fabric adhesive (PVA or EVA). Use whatever you want so long as it is weaker than the printed canvas.
