frameCo Easy glass cutter
Hi, an old friend of mine who used to frame gave me some of his old equipment over the weekend as he has retired. Among the many bits and pieces of mount board, D rings, cord etc. was a frameCo Mat Master a sort of strait edge with a scale one side and a groove the other. With it came a strange look...

Re: scuffed mount board
Thanks to all those who responded which brings me to off cuts. I have an ever growing pile. some are just the right size to use for a window mount, some are used as a back mount. I give some away to artists. my local school can't use them due to sharp edges so I am left with lots of small / medium o...

Re: scuffed mount board
Thanks Prospero, any one else got any suggestions, it can't just be me that has this problem or an I too critical of the board I use, or the board I reject and use for mounting instead

scuffed mount board
Hi, I like a lot of framers store my board vertically. Sometimes when pulling out a dark shade (black or red) I notice there are what I call scuff marks. these are more noticeable when you turn the board into the light. Its difficult to describe, it's almost like bruising of the surface, possible wh...

Re: customers at it again
On a similar thread. A lady walked in to a framing shop and asked "how much it would cost to frame this picture". After measuring and deciding on mount etc. a price of £45.00 was quoted. "that's far too much". we have a cheaper range of mouldings which will reduce the price to £3...

Re: Framing a large map
Funny enough i have just completed one. Its an ordinance survey map but a copy so no creases. No mount, simple Black frame. I suggested perspex because of weight but customer wanted glass so quite heavy, but frame big enough to support weight of glass. I have suggested a very strong fixing to wall t...

Re: glass cleaning
Thanks all that replied, I have been using Nilglass applied stright to the glass and using a soft cloth. Some times i find it streaks. Perhaps i am being over generous with the quantity. i will give paper towel a try and see how i get on. Thanks again.

glass cleaning
Hi all, i have recently had problems with glass cleaning. Which in the forum members opinion the best proprietary glass cleaner? also is paper roll better than cotton cloth. Does one spray directly on to glass or on to cleaning cloth?
Would appreciate any suggestions.

I had a lady in yesterday with a silk handkechief she wants framed, it has written message on it and is approx 150mm square with a white double border and is very thin. she doesn't want me to sow or tag it to the mount board. I have suggested mounting with a double mount replicating the white border...
