Re: Floating an old poster

You could sandwich it between two sheets of acrylic and seal the edges with scotch magic tape.
You should find that the static and pressure will hold it in place.

Re: Protective film for plastic glazing

Won't this create a static charge each time you place it and remove it? I would have thought this would necessitate more regular cleaning and more likelihood of scratches each time.
Have you considered using glass??

Re: ideas for 1st day covers?

What about using clear archival mounting corners. That way they remain in pristine condition. If you don't like seeing the clear corners, you could use a shadow mount with a window cut smaller than the corners.

Re: Keencut Excalibur 5000 help

I would suggest doing it yourself. I'm assuming that it will save you money as well as teaching you how to resquare it/check it in future. We've installed and resquared our Fletcher twice, it's not a big deal, but if you are wall mounting it, be sure to have two helpers to hold it in position while ...

Re: Plastic bag options

We've just bought a paper roll dispenser from Globe Packaging, for the same reason. We usually pack with bubblewrap (recycled as much as possible) most of the time as it allows us to safely store it protected til pick up. We're going to trial wrapping with paper, although on a rainy day, not uncommo...

Re: First Canvas Stretching job - guidance please

If you haven't done this before or been shown, I strongly suggest having a few practice runs with some bars and a piece of canvas. I trained on quite small ones and doing one 90x90 takes more time and patience. Its really important to get good tight neat corners without cutting off the corner fabric...

Re: Brush up on techniques - advice please

Shadow float mounting - I can't help as i use acid free white gummed tape for almost all my hinging. I cut two pieces of mountboard to the border width, place one on the left side and one on the bottom, flush with the mountboard. Place it near the edge of the worktable and gently clamp the strips in...

Re: Mitre corners - help!!

I would try using a wood glue like Titebond instead of Mitre bond which is a type of superglue. My understanding is that the underpinner wedges are to hold the joint in place whilst the wood glue goes off. I think in your case the mitre bond will set immediately and the wedges will then break the jo...
