<chuckle> Mark, 6mm ? What on Earth are they thinking when they make a frame with that rebate depth :? Maybe you can use extended turnbutton clips ? I am fairly sure they are available here in flush, then a few different heights. 8 or so around the oval backing, a good stiff back for support (mdf sh...

G'day Mark, Keep hammering your vendors, asking them for deeper rebates !!! Some are only 10mm deep here, typically the ones out of China or the like, and you can barely get 2mm glass, a mat or two, and backing in the blasted things, let alone a convex glass (clear or mirror). I usually have to pack...

Re: High end frames
Do you have to buy your moulding samples? Struth, we wouldn't stand for that down here! G'day all, Good on you John for looking at this niche in your market, I hope it pays off for you. Re closed corner sample sets . . . I don't expect my suppliers to give me free 'expensive' samples, and I sure as...

maryc, It's hard to imagine that plasticine will harden, even slightly, over anything than a l.....o.....n.....g time, pulling off any type of securing method, marking the item, or outgassing some sort of chemicals. I searched Google and found no reference to curing plasticine, so you probably can't...

Sure Kev, Just keep noted that std non glare (diffused) is best not sold as UV glass, the slight extra protection over normal clear simply isn't enough. UV in 300-380nm is 266 x more damaging than visible light, so important that it is blocked near 98% with genuine UV glass. The Museum story; ouch !...

Thanks Kev, Hope you find my site of interest. Re non glare (etched) and UV . . . yes, for some reason it does stop more UV than plain 2mm clear. This must be due to the etching. The little extra UV block certainly isn't enough of a reason to sell it for that purpose though, could lead to problems /...

G'day Shemilaya, Good you found this forum too, even though you are US based Chicago (or is there a Chicago in the UK ?) Anyway, the info you'll find here can be somewhat different to that of US . . . techniques, terminology, etc, but that's a good thing. Knowing other methods etc will broaden your ...

UV clear
Complicated subject ! And lots of misconceptions can be found. Having experimented a fair amount, including independent tests of results (similar to the US thread posted above), it is my view that : - UV glass indeed works, and well, to *DELAY* UV damage. - If artwork is placed near brightly (sunlit...

d, Agree with John, seek another supplier. Learn about glasses online, and ask various suppliers what they offer. Go to . . . Google and do searches on : Tru Vue Denglas Guardian Industries Tudor Glass These should bring the respective companies up to, or near, the top of the list. Have a surf about...

Thanks for the welcome, John. You know, you're absolutely right there, about the head in the sand attitude of bank merchant services. Look, if the client hasn't lost his card, or had it skimmed somewhere and you'd normally see other (usually very high value) card fraud happen at the same time, and y...

Cardholder not present
Sorry that happened to you John. It would be a tough lesson; I hope others appreciate the heads up. Your card company rep should have had some suggestions for you; I know I’ve spoken to card services here numerous times asking about the merchants rights in these cases . . . some of their advice is m...
