Re: Frame ID and 'How To' required
The inner frame is attached with a few blobs of 2 part araldite + some double sided tape to keep in place whilst the glue cures. The photo is drymounted & held in place just with tape at the back. The advantage of having the moulding made to size in raw wood is that any colour can be offered. I'...

Re: Frame ID and 'How To' required
Hi I have a photographer I replicated & still replicate this exact frame look for. I had to have 3 obeche profiles machined to the exact size by Norfolk moulding (min 30m on each profile) then painted to match - the one I had to 'copy' was a mahogany paint spray finish. Basically the inner mould...

Styles of period frames
Hello
I'm looking for information regarding styles of frames which were around in different periods of history. Most specifically Edwardian.
Does anyone have a good website link or book which I could buy online?
Thanks
James

Re: Mahogany circular 9" frame
Thought it might be a challenge. I can find an obeche round frame which I could stain & make look like mahogany but think he'd rather have the genuine article....

Mahogany circular 9" frame
Hello
One of my customer's is looking for a 9" circular frame made of solid mahogany around 1" wide & was wondering if anyone knew of a supplier - it is for a clock face.
I guess it might be one for a local cabinet maker?
Thanks
James

Re: Moulding Search
Hi I never use plastics but got asked to 'copy' one recently so have been absorbed in the plastic section of various catalogues... I think yours may either be Arqadia 510 0AC 300 page 265 vol 12 or Mainline POL1002 page 163 vol 18. They are both silvery but the Arqadia one looks pale gold to me... P...

Re: Latest moulding ID
Hi
You don't mention colour (by looks of photo it is black?) or width - could be ashworth & thompson 7820 (black & 21mm wide) if you have their catalogue page 22

Thanks Jamie you're a star - exactly what I'm looking for - especially as it'll save cutting a slip
Thanks also Prospero for your suggestions & offer - will bare in mind the grumble for any future enquiries.

Re: Moulding ID help please
Have ordered sample but Simons couldn't tell me if there was a slip that worked with it - as in photo.
Have asked Simons rep to get in touch but meanwhile if there's someone out there with catalogue & could give me slip info & price that would be great thanks.

Re: Moulding ID help please
Fantastic knew you'd come up trumps. I'd prefer it to be black as mount is black.
Don't usually use Simons if I can help it - tried to look at their website but pretty poor....
Will ask them to send a sample & ask for price.
thanks all

Hi
Might be worth asking Nielsen rep (Craig) to ask warehouse to do physical check on availability - has work for me in the past.

Re: How to protect pure gesso finish?
Thanks
Have always wondered what the Renaissance wax could be used for (I have seen it in Lions catalogue also).
Just wondering what makes it different from Liberon wax which seems to leave residue & streaking.
Will order some on my next order Monday.
Thanks again for the suggestions
