Re: How to protect pure gesso finish?

Thanks prospero

I have tried acrylic paint on top but it looses the marble like finish and only possible to achieve complete smoothness by spraying not brushing.
The idea of satin varnish I like & will experiment with.
So right it does pick up finger marks and stains easily.

Thanks

How to protect pure gesso finish?

Hi Just wondering amongst you hand finishers how you leave frames which are just pure gesso? I usually leave them uncoated after having sanded then polish to smooth finish BUT feel they need a coat of something on them... Have tried wax but leaves streaky marks. Any suggestions? Thanks for your advi...

Re: Moulding out of stock until July help....

I have had the same 'guestimates' for 4 weeks now - according to the rep this morning the shipped order they have received does not contain this moulding....
Will have try at emailing the manufacturer but as robo says - think it's an exclusive - might end up doing a hand finish to match....

Moulding out of stock until July help....

Hello I'm looking for this moulding which is due in July at Nielsen's - have been waiting 4 weeks to be told it will only be due in then.... :head: Anyone know if another supplier stocks it? It's 50mm wide hand rubbed silver (there are 4 in Nielsen's range W958146) by Salvotore Cornici. photo (25).J...

Re: Deep chrome effect moulding

Thanks Roboframer! That's exactly what I need, I looked in their catalogue but it's not in there - an new range... Is the finish the same as Nielsen ie hardwearing film that's almost scratch proof rather than aluminum on wood? I guess the idea as above would be to put wide moulding on its edge then ...

Re: Deep chrome effect moulding

thanks cove box might be the way forward.
I need a rebate of 60mm to enable to fit a 50mm golf ball with double mount, 3mm glass, 3mm MDF.
If I were to place the larger moulding on its side then cap with narrower moulding I'd 20mm short - this might be where cove box comes

Re: Deep chrome effect moulding

Thanks have tried that way but unfortunately not deep enough - only other way I've found would be to stack them with backs flush & build up rebate difference BUT the join line will show on the edge - not great look - this might be final choice if no other moulding options found...

Deep chrome effect moulding

photo (15).JPG photo (15).JPG Hi everyone I'm trying to source a deep rebate chrome effect moulding - needs to have rebate of 50mm (to put golf ball + memorabilia). Nielsen have the new Matrix collection (photo above) which is right effect but not deep enough. Arqadia have a very deep metal (5811) ...

Re: Help identifying Venture photography moulding set

Thanks all Keith - could you let me know who supplies Venture please - thanks. Prospero - yes they are only square sections and that will be last choice if I can't easily get hold of manufactured moulding. The biggest problem is the very thin and not deep at all inner moulding which is 12mm wide &am...

Re: Help identifying Venture photography moulding set

Hi Jonny Many thanks for the Simons pointer will have a closer look at it. Venture are much smaller than they once where. Have tried Kaleidoscope framing who have taken over from the original supplier to Venture - Border Frames - they suggested that Venture made their own profiles in-house. This doe...

Re: Framing a relay baton

Thanks Adam & David

Both great examples of what I'm about to tackle for a customer. Baton, shirt, pins, letter & badges from Olympic volunteer.

Thanks for suggestions will use melinex through the centre & invisible support under to stop sagging.

Framing a relay baton

Hi Just hoping for some ideas on framing a relay baton in a box frame (it's having other Olympics memorabilia around it) for a customer. The baton is hollow, approx 280mm long 40mm in diametre and made of aluminum -so relatively light. I'm trying to make the support the least visible - customer unde...
