Hi Kev

We bought the moulds which were only part of a very large collection from a framer in bath who sold everything off

very lucky to find these as they don't pop up for sale anywhere much

we had info on their history from the framer selling them

Hi depends on the moulding regarding the pooling we use all the methods you have described depending on the moulding you can apply wax with a decorators brush and it gets right into the nooks and crannies. if it's a flat square section, pin first , sand smooth, an orbital is handy for this or if by ...

all are available in either - gesso/primer, dutch leaf with antique or ivory wash and various real gold leaf.

am completely open to requests for other finishes though

thanks for the comments Geoff/Pete- we used a traditional compo mix of glue oil resin and chalk and some very secret ingredients . we use this to make all our decorated frames. you can control the mix to induce cracking also to give an older look to it. the cost to make the whole thing was about £16...

Hi Chris

varies a little from machine to machine and also the newness of the blades

but maybe 3 1/2 to 4 inch .

there is a way we used to mitre to increase it but wouldn't know how to describe it. Robo might have an idea

here are two pics of a recent commission . restoration and reproduction they show the tall original french mirror and the copy we had to make to sit opposite on a radiator shelf used 5 kg of silicone to cast the decoration and had to hand carve the curved angles on the moulding as I couldn't use the...

we only put glass directly on something that is - a) easily replaceable and b) cheap as chips moisture from glass is a pain something to think about is what your customer may think if the print sticks to the glass and how that may reflect on your services and skill using a separator isn't a bad idea...
