Re: 5 piece canvas art anyone ?
Thanks for the advice everyone, I don't use Arqadia unfortunately, I don't have a power plane either : ( Just Googling companies that sell these already stretched, I see that some stretch over 18mm blocks of what I assume is MDF, rather than a stretcher bar, as you can see from photo below, these ar...

Re: 5 piece canvas art anyone ?
ah, I have used a floater mouldings before but these canvases just need stretching, I was just after a suitable stretcher moulding that isn't too deep but has a clean edge rather than a rounded edge like some stretcher mouldings, thanks anyway.

Re: Large Laminated World Map to stick down anyone ?
Thanks for the advice people, as I'm often told, 99% of the things I worry about never actually happen, it turned out fine after all that. Not ideal but under the circumstances and i had warned the customer that it wouldn't go down totally flat, I cut a sheet of 5mm foamcore to size and laid lengths...

Large Laminated World Map to stick down anyone ?
Hi all, my heart always sinks when a customer brings in large laminated maps, well anything over size really .... The map is a whopping 150 x 95cm, supplied rolled up, laminated both sides, you know the sort of thing. The customer wants it mounted and framed (no glass), I dont have a cold roller so ...

4ft x 4ft Workbench - Pickup only nr M25/J29 2016-10-29 15.06.21.jpg This rather large bench has been in my Workshop for the last 5 years, dimensions: w48in x d48in x h32in I added the shelving myself, just chipboard. Framing odd shaped jigsaws anyone ?
Hi, a good customer of mine is threatening to bring in a dolphin shaped jigsaw ... now I have framed jigsaws over the years and they've generally been rectangular not dolphin shaped, I stick them down using drymount film onto 2mm MDF board. I'm thinking that I would have to profile the dolphin shape...

Re: HELP - mounting Linen backed Raiders poster
Well that was a heated debate  All good stuff, well here's a photo of the finished product, I actually used Neschen Filmoplast T Cloth Tape ( LION ) to attach to the Linen backing to the foamcore board, as I said, I did have to cut the mount in 2 sections as I can't cut Jumbo board but under g...

Re: HELP - mounting Linen backed Raiders poster
Thanks everyone for your advice, very much appreciated. Roboframer, I really like what you've done, are you able to cut Jumbo size board on your Gunner/CMC ? My options were limited when the customer brought it in, I can only cut mounts in standard size ( 815 x 1125mm ) so I worked out I could only ...

HELP - mounting Linen backed Raiders poster
A customer has brought in my first Linen backed poster, I've never had to frame one, never even seen one, its an original Raiders of the lost Ark poster with about 3cm of backing on show ( see photo ). I've seen in a previous posting where Roboframer suggested mounting strips ? Is this because it's ...

FITTING HEAD SPRING FOR EXCALIBUR 5000
Could someone do me a favour and post a photo of how the head spring ( see below ) fits in the ratchet part of the Keencut Excalibur 5000 cutting head please ? Re: Bending board when drymounting anyone ?
I forgot to thank you all for the advice about the drymounting, I dont have a cold roller anymore so I had to drymount. I did put the white display board in the hotpress first, to dry it out a bit, I then drymounted them and placed them under glass to flatten them out. I was quite pleased with the r...

Re: Bending board when drymounting anyone ?
Funny you should mention hardboard, the customer said she had had prints drymounted onto hardboard previously and I had never heard of that, she said they were fine, I think I might get in touch and suggest I try drymounting them onto hardboard instead of white display board, because of the bending....

Re: Bending board when drymounting anyone ?
I'll certainly try and reheat the board first and then try drymounting the print, thanks for the tip : )
