Re: Cutting Mountboard with wheel cutter on Fletcher Wall Cu

I always use my twin wheel cutter on my Keencut Excalibur to cut my mountcard, same when I used a Fletcher, hardly ever use the Stanley blade cutter as they seem to bend and have a short cutting life :head:

Re: Local Show

What's to lose apart from a day of your time. If it were me today I would go along with a variety of examples and lots of flyers and make sure everyone who passed was given one and include a special offer e.g. 10% off on presentation of this leaflet. This will also allow you to see hoow effective i...

Re: Invoicing from Pricing Software AND Accounting Software

Well if you have an accountant ask them what they use, that way you will match up with them. I use Sage Accounts 2012, but if you go to their site you should find a free down load called SageInvoicing which is quite good.

Re: Invoicing from Pricing Software AND Accounting Software

I print 3 copies from Estlite, one for the customer, one stays with the work, one for the archives. I use the till function in Estlite to record any payments, I have departments set up, Custom Framing, Ready Mades, Web Sales etc, at the end of the day I fill out a spreadsheet, which have the same de...

Excellent Service

My handle snap on my Keencut Excalibur 5000 yesterday :head: (Tuesday 3rd July), so rang Keencut around lunch time to order a new one. After giving the serial number was told it was covered by warranty, and they would send one out that day. New one installed on machine by midday today (Wednesday 4th...

Re: Best Visualisation Software

That's what I mean, you will not get a good representation on all components, that's why I use real mounts and mouldings against the work to be framed, Visualisation software will only give an overall impression of what the finished framed work might look like, and don't forget the colour difference...

Re: Best Visualisation Software

Of course that all very well, but you have to calibrate the camera as well, if not the replication of the colours in the artwork to be framed will not be captured right.

Re: Framing a pastel

Naffness is in the eye of the beholder, no offense taken, if we all liked the same things or did things the same way, what a boring world this would be  .

In my example you could use foamcore, behind the mount to make the space as well, and you do not need a deep rebate moulding to do the job.

Re: Framing a pastel

The way I do it is cutting another mount (lets call this the Spacer Mount , can be any colour, as it will not be seen) with the same out side size as the mount that has bee chosen ( lets call this the Real Mount , can be a single or double, makes no difference) , but cut the window between 10 to 20m...

Batch cut all the frames for the week first, then glass etc much more cost effective than doing one job at a time.

Re: Pricing Frames For Photographers.

It came to £40.80 on my Estlite pricing, full custom framing (me putting photo in) discounted if they want as Ready made. My way of working with photographers is price as per retail, and give them discounts for quantity, the more work they give me the better the price, also to work to pre-arranged s...

Re: Multi Aperture

I think you have done very well Jack, I used to mark out on the back in pencil, then 'do it by eye' , many years ago, maybe 1993 or 94 I wrote an article for the Guild's mag ABT on how to cut multi windows in double mounts ( it even had photos, had to wait for them to come back from the developers,)...
