Re: Best Glass Hand Cutter...

I have an Excalibur for normal use but I also have a Toyo TC10 and TC17 which I think are brilliant and relatively inexpensive.. used to have a Fletcher brass glass cutter which was quite expensive and hated it

Re: Framing a Poppy - Help!!

In fairness too regarding the COA.. its not really a COA apart from the hologram on the card.. it is more of an explanation of the art by the artist and the story of 'Blood Swept lands & Seas of Red' IMHO I think it adds to the piece to give a little of the story behind the commemoration. I have...

Re: Framing a Poppy - Help!!

But talk about blowing your own trumpet :giggle: :giggle: Dont get me started on the devaluation of the OBE/CBE/MBE stories.. I have my opinions on them that may not be shared by many...but... the medals I have gained through my military service have been awarded as a result of defending our great ...

Re: Framing a Poppy - Help!!

a Little off topic but I also have framed 2 of these this month and the opposite situation..The recipients came in wanting their Queens Orders framing and after a little discussion, I convinced them that having a miniature medal in the frame with it would make it more of a talking point... certainly...

Re: Framing a Poppy - Help!!

At the risk of upsetting you Grays.... here is an example of one that I framed a little while ago.. I tend to get lots of people who want the COA included in the frame so as they say... "Who am I to disagree". I use Arqadia Suedette mountboards to give a plush look to the finished piece.. ...

Re: Framing a Poppy - Help!!

For anything deep like that i choose 411000499, 411000167 or 411000127 as a default. With a bit of carpentry you can use this to make a box at the back and then add another moulding to the front if it still isn't deep enough. That's my default too Grays... the poppies very in depth between 60mm and...

Re: Framing a Poppy - Help!!

I have now framed over 20 of the tower of London poppies.. as the are all hand made, the dimensions of the head do vary. Occasionally I have had to build out the back of the frame to accommodate the head... I use arqadia frame box fillet ( 207400000) which comes in 3 different depths. This works wel...

Re: Medal Case and boxes

Lovely presentation of both medals and poppy together... my only criticism and stand corrected if it was intended... but the WW1 medals on the left and incorrectly displayed if belonging to a single recipient.. "Mutt" & "Jeff" (War Medal & Victory Medal) should be the oth...

Can anyone help

I currently have a client who would like me to match a moulding for them.. it is an arqadia moulding ( 5100AC334) as it is a pol core moulding and I really don't like using it, I am very reluctant to order a box of 82 mtrs. Would anyone have a couple of lengths that they would be willing to sell on ...

Re: Another idiot question!

I have had the discussion with FATG about the conservation properties of gummed tape owing to the different water qualities and additives around the world and how this will affect the ultimate Ph value of Gummed tape... and being ex Military, I've always been quite hot on COSH and safety data so I d...

Re: CMC

The Gunnar mounting table is actually designed to be positioned in one of 3 ways... a flat tabletop configuration, a 30 degree incline like a draftsmans table but it can also be wall mounted at an incline of approx 30 degrees. I do completely agree with keeping it as flat as possible, but when many ...
