Re: Postcard viewed from both sides
I've seen a piece framed front and back. Two frames, with recessed magnets in the backs, joining them together.

Covid 19 and the workplace.
Long but informative piece, especially about the importance of good ventilation in enclosed spaces..

Re: Hello, Going into business for myself
Hi John, As Mark said, temperature and humidity change is the enemy, even wood glue doesn't like cold temperatures. Mountboard, moulding, customers artwork(!). My main space is 3.5m x 5m which I find really workable. I do about 15-20% chops. One in five gets replaced due to not being perfect. I mark...

I can recommend some training. Jan at Framers Equipment in Northampton runs very good affordable courses for beginners upwards.

Some great ideas here! I love the reuse of MacPros
In case anyone is interested, here is my lovely collection of paperweights.
I've been mistaken for a collector, but I promise I'm not buying any more now!

Re: Paperweights?
I've been picking up paperweights from charity shops over the last few years. Around £5 or under usually. That's for keeping new work flat on the table.
For glueing mats together etc, I have some home gym weights in a range of sizes.

Re: Framing large print
I would definitely be using a subframe on something this size, Rose and Hollis do various sizes. That will give you the strength on most mouldings as long as the moulding is deep enough to accommodate the subframe as well.

Re: Hello to all
HI Carol, To first answer your questions specifically to me.. - the vacuum press is now an essential piece of equipment, very straightforward to use, once I had done the training day(see below). I am rural and it was a 2 hour round trip including waiting for the work and it seemed overly expensive o...

Re: Angle and gap problems. Knife Block issue?
@coxsox Here's a quick check for you. You see how the knife block slides backwards and forwards on a rail either side of the block when you move the handle left to right? Move the handle so the block is half way between front and back. Grab the top of the block with two hands and see if it will wigg...

Re: Hello to all
Hi Carole, Welcome to the forum! 1. If the posters are replaceable and of low value then the general consensus is to mount them, either with a vacuum press or a roll laminator. Before I bought a Hotpress vacuum press, I used to subcontract that part to a local sign writer/printer. If valuable or not...

You may have more success with this on The Grumble or Framers Only.

Yup, frog tape green here, but apparently Kleen Edge tape from Toolstation is very good too.

I was trying to persuade my artist Wife to help me photoshop my logo for a decal for the bonnet of my car, so that the logo was vertical from the front view, onto a horizontal bonnet. Sadly I got voted down, it happens sometimes...

As Chris said, looks like your underpinning too close to the back. But honestly, underpinning Oak can be a really difficult at the best of times. I bought a Hoffmann router in the end... I suggest glue and clamp and underpin with clamp on (its a fiddle but possible), alternatively glue and clamp ove...

Re: Old newspapers
Only thing I can think to suggest is that a burnishing tool helps with the folds. I often have to wrap Artists prints in clear film. They all say that they hate doing it. I could see why, until I started burnishing all of the folds, now it's easy. Oh and a tiny bit of tape (I use 3M Magic tape) wher...
