Re: Weightlifting
Would lions be heavy enough for weighting starch paste hinges? Could get very expensive. On a side note how long do people leave starch hinges to dry, on a mild day for example? Like you I have an assortment of small odd weights collected, with an off cut/scrap of mountboard underneath. Though I wou...

Ditto, just yesterday I called and was very pleased. Turns out if you start turning random allen bolts, you can unkowingly alter quite a bit of alignment on these machines

Re: Looooooooong shot
HI David, A195 simply glue and underpin, fixings go on backboard. A140 glue, 7mm underpin wedge, then place each corner in a benchtop mitre clamp, hammer panel pins close to the top and countersink. Then put frame in a strap clamp whilst glue dries. then fill the pin holes with filler. Often with a1...

Re: Unclaimed paintings
I certainly wouldn't dispose of them but would return to the artist with his understanding that he knows the situation. The canvas is 5 foot, so takes up some space. The small a4 one is going to go on the display wall. Having just got one job out of here that's been with me nearly 4 years, just feel...

Unclaimed paintings
Afternoon, a couple of years ago somebody came in to get some paintings framed, they were in a rush to get home for there Sunday lunch so I said I would send them some photographs of possible options. However I never heard back from them, and still have the canvas in the workshop. Unframed. Is there...

4 pins hammered fully into the wall where each corner of the paper will be. Then those tiny 2mm super strong magnets placed at each corner.

Re: Newbie mounting question (please be kind!)
Pay to get one framed by a professional and then get it home and take it to pieces to see how's it done. You don't mention how much framing experience you have.
Or just charge a realistic price to cover skill and costs and time then outsource the framing, and get them all done properly.

Re: Joining narrow oak
I sometimes use a custom moulding that is only 7mm, and predrill, hammer pin in then use a nail punch, fill and never had a problem with disguising the holes.

http://www.axminster.co.uk/festool-domino-df-500-q-set-jointer-assortment-1060-package-deal-717297 How about a festool domino jointer, think you can get a cutter thats 4mm. You would need to cut the dominos down. though my mind is tired and not more than mush at the moment. With 8mm dowel or domino ...

Phone rose and Hollis tell them what you want and I'm sure they'll pick you the light length out or keep an eye out until they get a light one.

Re: mount cutter blade change
Main thing is to experiment, you'll get differing levels of success. I stopped reading there recommendations and just tried them all until I got good results. Also tried the gold edged ones from Lion and found them to be utter rubbish.
