Re: Pricing Frames For Photographers.

I supply a local photographer with multi window frames and this accounts for about half of my business. 4 basic frame sizes. 16*20, 10*24 at £30 each and 20*24, 13*34 at £45 each. (no VAT as not reg'd) All I supply is the frame from a selection of around 10 mouldings, typical Lion L1534 and others a...

Re: Premises

If you are not far from countryside then have a look at 'barn' workshop (or possibly office) type places. For starting up you can get away with something about the size of a 20' shipping container (20'x7' = 140 sq ft). Rents will depend on location etc but should be manageable at that size. It's whe...

[quote="Steve N"] They are much the same as saw tooth hangers- prospero wrote " I've known them leap off a wall when someone has slammed a door or a low-flying aircraft goes over. For this reason I wouldn't advise them on anything larger than a 8x6" frame." Totally agree Als...

Re: Hanging advice please.

Lion CWH hangars are your solution for a frame like this, one either side about 2 inches below top edge of the frame and then bumpers or plastic domes on the bottom corners. Frame should sit nice and flat against the wall. Slotted holes also help with alignment if hooks are not accurately put into t...

Re: Underpinners? MINIGRAF A2M-200 Foot Operated Underpinner

Hi I used the CS88 when I first started framing a few years ago and disposed of it only as part of a relocation from overseas. I now have an Alpha A2M-200 which I've been using for the last 15 months. If you are new to framing I think you may find the A2M-200 a little more user friendly. Be aware th...

Re: ...there must be an easier way - Ultimat Gold 48

Hi, been following this with interest, I use an Ultimat gold and also move it about from time to time but do not have any problems such as you describe. Calibration takes a few minutes but that's all. My frame shop is pretty close to you if you want to get in touch please do so, give me a ring on 07...

Re: Travelling salesman

How about a tailor made case, see attached, easily made using a morso and underpinned to form the two basic frames, cover with mdf and hinge together, etc etc. Line with display cloth, cost probably around £75.
Fits in behind driver's seat or lie flat in the boot.

Re: underpinning a mould with a groove/bevel

Hi many thanks for all your replies. or Kudoframes. Can you please advise what you mean by wedge quality? Basically wedges often come in different grades for different hardnesses of wood, for example, I use an alpha A2M which to best of my little knowledge only has one grade of wedge, but Cassese h...

Re: underpinning a mould with a groove/bevel

Hi guys, here's the photo of the beast in question. Plastic can be difficult but it can be overcome - Are you using the the correct grade wedges for plastic mouldings? The top clamp may be causing the problem if it is not supporting the moulding adequately because of the shape of the profile The wed...

Re: Hanger Help

Hi all, I would give this one a try, rather 2 of them with one either side
Lion CWH1 hangers, if you don't have space in the rebate for the tab on the hanger then use CWH2.

hope this helps

I have used Wessex C2773 crackled silver which is narrower, 1-1/4" but looks very similar.

Re: which way up?

If you go by Fine Art Trade Guild standards it would always be height first, so in this case a 20 x 30 would be landscape.....best to qualify it every time
