Re: Handiwrap alternative?
Recycle more of what you throw out. I have 2 bins at the curb for city pickup. One is for garbage and the other is for mixed recycling. If this is not available in your area; then it is time for a grassroots campaign aimed at your local council to add this to your area. http://www.reigate-banstead....

Re: Handiwrap alternative?
Give up on framing pictures. You think a bit of handiwrap is a problem, what about the manufacture of an entire picture frame? The moulding was cut down from a forest, shipped to the factory, coated in all sorts of nasties, came wrapped in plastic, the bits went into landfill. It was all shipped pi...

Handiwrap alternative?
I am becoming increasingly concerned about plastic usage and where possible we try to buy things without plastic. However I feel I am contributing to the problem by wrapping Handiwrap round frames that I send out to protect them and keep the corner protectors in place. I am looking for an alternativ...

A lot of the guys here have the same problem at first, just takes practice.
I keep a clean paintbrush beside it to clear the bottom bit of any little chips or shards of glass. This seems to help, keeps the surface good and slidey.
Glad I'm not the only one

Re: Lion deliveries - a warning
To expect a trade supplier not to have some kind of minimum order value these days is probably not a recipe for some suppliers to remain a viable business. Every order that a company processes will entail paying the wages for staff and also the cost of creating an invoice. Having worked for a numbe...

Damaging glass Excalibur 5000
Can I please ask for some advice I have recently bought a Keencut Excalibur 5000 off eBay. What a great piece of kit - speeds up sheet cutting no end. The only problem is that I find that I often crack a corner off a sheet of glass while inserting it into the cutter. I am sure this is due to ineptit...

Re: Extra deep float moulding
The sample has arrived from Simons today and is perfect - thank you for the advice.
I note that Wessex do a similar, even deeper (70mm) moulding https://www.wessexpictures.com/PW176.html

Re: Extra deep float moulding
You could go this route, using Simons http://www.djsimons.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=3295&search=obec%2F0105 Cut and join it upside down, pop a bit of MDF in and paint white, the sample I have is 62mm deep (rebate depth) so with some 2mm MDF glued in place, it should w...

Extra deep float moulding
I have a customer with a very deep stretched canvas which he wants me to fit in a white float moulding tray. The canvas depth is 60mm and the customer wants it to finish flush with the moulding with a 10mm gap. The deepest tray moulding I have been able to find is this https://www.arqadia.co.uk/prod...

Alternatively I could let the whole shed rotate and keep the moulding the same way round

Re: It's a mystery!
I have recently built a 5 x 3m log cabin as a workshop after having a large garage to frame in. I've found this is an issue now, so I sort out the moulding and make sure it faces the correct way before taking it in and storing it, then when I lift it down to cut it is the correct way round. Glad it...

It's a mystery!
I cut my mouldings on a Morso in my garage. The garage measures 2.8metres wide x 6 metres long. When I take delivery of mouldings they are stored in racks in the ceiling. So far so good - however when I take down a piece of moulding it is almost always the wrong way round to go into the Morso. As I ...

Re: Manual point insertion
What I tend to do is, put everything in the frame, except the pastel, do this before you have fitted the pastel in the mount, now once you have everything in the frame, use ready made tabs, fire them in, then bend them open, take out the back and the mount. Fit the pastel in the mount and refit int...

Manual point insertion
I have a rather fragile pastel drawing to frame and I am concerned that the vibration caused by a tab gun will release particles of the pastel to fall on the glass. I am thinking of using a manual point insertion tool such as this: http://www.lordoftheframes.com/fletcher-pushmate-tool--push-points-f...

Re: Horror!
Can't you just run a sharp blade round the edge to release it and then it will behave as if it hasn't been taped?
Any residual tape on the undermount can then be removed at leisure if you really want to re-use it.

I haven't seen the aluminium method previously. This picture is too big for that method but I will definitely seal it with tape
