Re: What baldes to buy?

Do they cut fine on other mouldings? As long as they are hollow ground now I would say they would be fine. That definitely looks like the moulding to me. Ye they cut fine on others, I did notice on cheap mouldings they will pull the bottom of the cut so they become lose and i notice when framing th...

Re: What baldes to buy?

Why do you think the blades need changing? As long as they are sharpened properly each time then they should be as good as new each time you put on a sharp set unless they have been badly sharpened. I had a set that got down to the braze line and were still fine ... until the braze gave way and the...

Re: What baldes to buy?

Ye i had thought that might make a difference. i was going to use mount board. Still think the blades need changing too, as they might be helping the chipping

What baldes to buy?

So i need new blades for my Morso. My current ones even freshly sharpened cause the slightest frey/flaking/chipping of the side cut and even times noticed a arch in the side cut http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n539/22rabbits/IMG_1915.jpg The Framers corner own brand are 150 and the Morso branded...

Re: Novice issues after 2 months of framing

I have a Matpro 120 which I bought second hand, the previous owner had experienced this same problem and overcame the issue by inserting thin shims between the base board and its steel backing frame at the points where the cut was not complete. The backboard must be susceptible to some slight disto...

Re: Novice issues after 2 months of framing

The mouldings we've been using are really high quality, so can’t see that being an issue. The one that had the most chipping was actually quite an expensive little bugger, a high gloss walnut with a black edge and it was that black edge that chipped/flaked. It’s also been constant with two sets of b...

Re: Novice issues after 2 months of framing

Hi Niall, hope this helps with a few of yourissues: 1. Could it be the moulding finish that is the problem, i.e. thick coatings, or that the outside joint edge is not closed up enough, o r that morso blades not sharp enough,? 2. Under pinner top clamp might not be set at appropriate height for moul...

Novice issues after 2 months of framing

Hi everyone, we recently took on the manufacturing of our picture frames in-house and so far it’s had its difficulties but overall going well. To difficulties end we have come to 5 main issues that I was hoping might be solved easily with your help. 1. Our morso is cutting well and clean but after p...

Re: Moulding identification - with pictures

ye it is expensive or at least is when we buy the assembled rims. it would probably be too cheeky to ask the framer we were getting them supplied from, but he can get them.

Re: Workshop Layout / Design

if its a damp arean (cold at night) you could do what i done and make a box for the mount board. Iv only had a few weeks but it seems like a good idea for perventing the warping of the board in the night with temp drops. mine is made of one standard MDF sheet 18mm and the lid and base are the same s...

Moulding identification - with pictures

Does anyone know where to get this moulding? We are in Ireland and have gotten it here from a framer, that was before we started framing ourselves. We now want to supply and make them ourselves. 77mm x 46mm with a 24mm deep rebate
