I do as ChrisG with oak and use a polyurethane glue.
Mark, do you use the fences on their own or do you use the hinged spacer bar? Also do you find the rebate clamp makes much difference ? I hardly ever use it as I don't notice any difference in the outcome.

That is a shame. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last couple of years from both learning and social perspectives.
Thank you for organising them.

Re: cold laminating press
I have to say that the JM26 is one of my favourite tools in the workshop, always pleased with the results. Bought mine second hand. Steve's advice was always a help but take it slowly and practice, you should be ok.
Definitely interested in a training day at Lymington if it happens Steve.

Cold in the workshop
Popped into the workshop this afternoon. It was cold cold cold. I have an oil filled heater that cuts in so that it doesn't freeze, but it is still cold. Got me wondering whether the cold does any damage to any framing materials such as glues, paints, laminates, tapes etc. Then I thought at this tim...

Hey, I've actually got one of those. My wife bought me one for a joke but it actually does work! I use it to clean out the grooves in the Ultimat and the wall cutter.

What about one of these? Holds a decent size piece of wood. Bit pricey though.

Re: O/S Custom Made Maps
Hello Andy. Whereabouts in Hampshire are you? You could pop it into Wessex Fine Arts in Lymington and they will use their big rollers for you. That's what I did with the one I have had. Not too bad a price and they cut a piece of 3mm acrylic to match for me too, again, not too bad a price.

Heavy picture hangers
Has anyone used these? They look nice and easy to use but would just attaching to the top cause a problem with the frame?

Re: Is there a real need to underpin?
Hello All and thanks for the replies. As a general rule, I will glue and underpin at the same time and set aside to dry before assembly. I have adopted this method for oak (suggested on the Forum by Prospero) as sometimes I have had the bottom of the back open up slightly when underpinning. The clam...

Is there a real need to underpin?
I am putting together an oak frame (Wessex PW131 1 7/8 flat square) for a mirror 48x16". My usual process for oak is to clamp and glue with polyurethane glue and then underpin. Having just taken the clamps off, if the blurb from the manufacturer is to be believed (Everbuild Gator Glue) then the...

Hanging Angle
Hello All. When the framing job is complete, at what angle should it be to the vertical when it is hanging on the wall? When I first started out I used to string fairly tight which would mean the frame would sit flat against the wall. Now I am aware of the diagram regarding frame loading and string ...
