Re: Framing Postcards
What about 2 mounts back to back with apertures just smaller than the postcard, place the card in between both mount and this would allow both sides to be seen but leaves little available for hinging? Personally, I would use mylar/melinex encapsulation, this allows the full card to be seen without a...

Many thanks for your comments, they have been a great help and added yet more to my framing knowledge. I can now provide the customer with a couple more options.

Large poster
I have searched for and read all the relevant previous contributions about large posters but would still be interested in your views on my proposed method for a job I picked up recently. The artwork is a large poster, 1544mm x 1042mm, is about 20 years old and somewhat tatty with small tears, cracks...

New home needed for Morso
I have just been chatting to one of my wife's colleagues, a widow, and discovered she has a rather old Morso that is no longer needed. Her late husband used to run a mirror shop and made some of his own frames, one of the remaining items from his business is a Morso. I have had a very quick look and...

Re: Public speaking
Last night I gave my presentation to the artists' group and spent just over 40 minutes talking. There were plenty of very intelligent questions mixed with lots of " Oh, I didn't know that". Once again, many thanks for your earlier comments and views about what to include in the presentatio...

Re: Money from offcuts
Lion also produce a "How to" pdf you can look at, I sometimes find it useful to follow a printed set of instructions than trying to remember what was demonstrated/stated on a video. Hopefully this is the link to the relevant bit on their website: http://www.lionpic.co.uk/InfoStore/InfoStor...

Public speaking
Last night I was approached by a local artists' group and asked if I would give a short talk, maybe 30 to 45 minutes, on the framing standards needed for their major art exhibition later this year. With a little trepidation I agreed and I have been promised a written copy of the requirements and fro...

Re: Accuracy in making frames?
[quote="prosperoTell me, when you go into a restaurant do you glance at the menu for about 3 seconds and then start mentally criticising the frames on the walls? If so, you got it bad.[/quote] A few years ago I was in a shop with my youngest son, who was then about 12, looking at some fra...

Patrick,
Has the moulding split open at the back? I can't quite make it out on your photo.
PS. The offer to come over still stands.

Re: Sheds, Workshops, and Planning
I also had an unannounced visit from a planning enforcement officer just over a month ago. Somebody had complained about a pergola I have built in my garden and the planning enforcement officer made it quite clear he could not tell me who made the complaint. Fortunately, the pergola is well within a...

Display bags
I need to find a source of self sealing display bags suitable for A4 mounted photographs - I have a requirement for about 150. All I have found at the moment are those on page 124 of current Lion catalogue. Does anybody have any suggestions of other good suppliers?
Many thanks,
Steve

Re: 'Home Working' - a nagging doubt ...
I too work from home. I have a space to deal with customers away from the 'working area' and my family area. I offer a collection and delivery service but will see customers by appointment at home. I think you need to be honest and up front with the council; I have spoken to my local council and rec...
