You probably need a decent oil filled cutter - Lion will be able to provide. I have one you could have a look at - the offer to visit me is still open.

Re: Getting noticed
Thanks for all the comments and advice. My only regular advertising expenditure is the cost of my domain name, web pages and paper advertising in 3 publications; the local parish magazine, local (3000 distribution) business magazine and another business magazine (9000 distribution) in the next town....

Getting noticed
Some musings of a newbie. I took the decision to start a small, homebased framing business about September last year and have spent the intervening period getting a workshop sorted out, attending some framing training and a business link course, publishing a website and starting some small scale adv...

Re: Attaching shoes
The shoes are actually about 25 years old, the grown up boy now wants them framed. His mother-in-law, the customer, is not happy with the price and now wants to discuss a 'cheaper option'!
I will try to remember to take a photo if we ever agree a price and layout.

Re: Attaching shoes
Thanks for all the suggestions. Whilst tinkering with this between other jobs I have found that really thin strips of polyester 3 or 4 mm wide from a roll of 25mm are altogether less obvious.

Notwithstanding the thinness of the sole, I don't want to damage the shoes in any way.mikeysaling wrote:may be a daft suggestion but could you screw them from the back of the frame.

Re: Attaching shoes
Thanks for that, I had been considering some form of adhesive on the sole. I need to chat this over with the customer.

Attaching shoes
I have been given a pair of children's shoes to frame and am not sure how to attach them. Usually I get soft baby shoes and I tend to sow them on, unfortunately, these are for a toddler and are made of reasonable quality leather uppers and a hard, man-made, sole. I have done a tester with polyester ...

Re: Frame carrier bags
This has given me an idea. I have found heavy weight cotton bags for 79p each online onto which we could embroider our details. These are then given to good customers and can subsequently be re-used as shopping bags with some publicity for us.

Kev@frames - that was a well reasoned and calm response to what might be considered an emotional original post and I tend to agree with you. Is there opportunity to move this to members only?

Re: Pink Floyd
I remember reading an article about this in an old copy of Art Business Today (think it was 2008) and was hugely impressed with the finished frame and the work that went into making it. Oh, to be able to do stuff like that.

I want to change it
Received a reframe job earlier this week, it is of a 'lace lady' made by the customer's mother some years ago. The customer wants to keep the original mount and backing material the lady is attached to (sown on thankfully). Whilst customer has agreed to upgrade to UV glass (my first!) I'm still of a...

The measuring scale on my Morso goes down to 100mm (4 inches) - I suppose if I wanted it would still cut smaller.
