I can't imagine that our industry here in the UK is large enough for a monthly magazine to even get off the ground. I'm sure that for someone ...

That's the point John. It's an incredibly cheap subscription, as you know. It's well worth signing up for it, if anyone is at all interested in what experts in the industry have to say.
I know I have shared pages of some books at times, breaking copyright, but honestly my drawing is so bad...

Sales Strategies
Great article in the September issue of Picture Framing Magazine written by Jared Davis MCPF GCF. Well worth a read if you're interested in Customer Service and the customer's experience at the design table.

To state the obvious, have you double checked against a steel rule, just to be sure?
I wouldn't believe this if it hadn't happened to me on a brand new Fletcher panel cutter a few years ago...

Personally I like it as one long scroll through, or jump to page 6. I often scroll through to wake myself up, creatively speaking.

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!
Happy Friday folks!
Here's one of those "just a plain black frame please" jobs. It doesn't have to be boring or cheap! I'm using rag mats more and more in my designs. It sets me apart from my competition and even with this simple double mount combo it elevates the piece.

Re: advise for a newbie
Imho there is no harm in calling the customer to explain that it is much more involved than you first thought and that the cost will in fact be much higher, should they wish to go ahead with it. It is not an easy phone call, but I have done it. Doing a job at a vastly reduced price makes it memorabl...

Have you spoken to your suppliers? They're all recommending the makes that they supply, with steel cartridges to replace the plastic cassese ones.

Re: CMC cut mounts - is this acceptable?
First question I'd be asking to the Boss is "have these been checked for quality prior to shipping?" If yes, then I'd be suggesting they supervise their QC or raise their standards! Clearly overcut and hooked. It's also cream core by the looks of it. I'd suggest sticking to a white core/co...

Re: advise for a newbie
After a bit of research on the fb groups, it is called the "screen" method. It consists of strainer bars, some polyester or fibreglass (not nylon) screen material fixed onto the strainer bars, followed by a layer of calico fixed to the bars. The screen can be placed on stands and the flag ...

Re: advise for a newbie
Wow! That's a first job! I was offered a similar job some time ago. After much research and information provided by experts in groups such as framers only, framing academy etc, I discovered that the sewing work alone was between one and two days, before framing. I think I estimated between £750-£100...
