What to look for in a printer

Hello all, I am in the market for a new printer. On the basis that my old man is always keen to have a source of A3 printing. I was just wondering what sort of money I would have to look at spending on something I could use for printing photographs for framing and what should I look for in terms of ...

Re: Futura Nightmare

I have reset everything and finally got it back to being in a position where it is playing ball thanks. adjusting the over/undercut is such a fiddly thing for a novice! Think I will stick to 1400 board for a few weeks! Thanks for your help.

Futura Nightmare

Hello all, My Futura is being an absolute nightmare. I am trying to cut standard 1400 aqadia mountboard (hayseed) and the bevel cutter is misbehaving. It was fine, then started not cutting all the way though the board. I then changed the blade, that didn't help so I then adjusted the blade depth, th...

Re: Work Benches

Thanks folks,
Grays, That was what I thought, I am trying to work out a way for it to be a bit more nimble but think I might just have to be a bit more careful when I move it.

Re: help with a HUGE frame.

Finally a chance to actually try and help! I found that there are a lot of roofing places that will supply big sheets. Try the likes of roofing superstore etc.

WANTED Fine Art Guild Books

If anyone has any Fine Art Guild books - Especially the Commended Framer Study Guide that are taking up space AND gathering dust, I would be delighted to take them off your hands for an reasonable amount of money, name your price! - If nothing else, it might stop me asking so many stupid questions! ...

Work Benches

Hello all. I am looking to build some work benches because buying is cheating! I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? My spec. is that one has to comfortably fit my 62" Futura and the other will be for glass cutting. They also have to be easy to disassemble as I have a nomadic workshop ...

Re: Monumentally large shirt frame?

Thank you all so much for all the advice. The guy has turned out to be a total flake and after telling him it would be much easier to do it as two, let alone enormously cheaper! He has gone to ground. Slightly miffed as he said he had two others to do and I bought mouldings specially! Also, please e...

Monumentally large shirt frame?

Hello all, happy new year etc. I have been asked to quote for a rugby shirt to be framed for a friend to give as a present. The shirt in question has an enormous amount of sentimental value and he has also given some very specific requests. The shirt is from a benefit match and he would like it to b...

Address stickers?

Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for where to get stickers (probably the cliched gold ones!) that won't peel off after 10 seconds?
Thanks,
Charles

Re: Keencut: A Done Deal?

Thank you all. I have just received my Keencut Futura. Managed to get a really good price from Wessex (significantly better than Lion, gave Lion a chance to quote but they weren't even bothered to reply to my email) and it arrived within 4 days of ordering...The only trouble is 62" is absolutel...

Hinging methods?

Hello all, My next conundrum is hinging. From all of my reading on the topic it would appear that if you can you should pretty well always use a T hinge from the top but in what circumstances should you use a different method and what materials do you recommend? It seems a bit flimsy if you are fram...

Re: Morso not cutting cleanly

Sorry for digging up an old post but it was really helpful. I acquired an old second hand Morso from this very forum. While the excellent photo was really helpful, there was one thing that was slightly tricky - the intersection being right according to the person who is helping you! I am doing it my...

D&J Simons?

Hello all, Just wondering if anyone had any comments on D&J Simons? I have just had the rep out and as far as I can see, they are DIRT CHEAP on mouldings and even cheaper on mountboard. While I love a bargain, I am aware that if something sounds too good to be true, it normally is and you normal...

Wow, thanks for such a wide range of responses. I can't wait to spend some more money that I don't have! I had a bit of a play with Liberion concentrated water based dye and was quite please with the results.

Re: Delivery options?

Thank you all for your suggestions. I shall look into them. In my experience, if Yodel are used, it is not only broken but also late! I also love watching them jump around on other people's packages when they are trying to find your one!

Beginning to finish

I am keen to start finishing my own mouldings but have absolutely no idea about where to start. If people could point me in a good direction with either different waxes, dyes and guilding stuff. Or even a good book to get me started that would be fantastic!
Thanks,
Charles
