Mount attachment question

Hi, I'm having a bit of a crisis of confidence at the moment, I'm just after a bit of reassurance really. As you can see in the photo below, I have 3 prints ( 30cm x 30cm each ) which have been mounted onto 5mm Foamcore ( hinged top and sides). I have cut 3 windows in a white single mount and...

Re: Water, water!

Well I took some advice about this recently, I'm doing 3 mounted prints in a single frame ( about a metre wide ) and the customer is hanging it in their bathroom ?? I was given a few suggestions , using a sheet of Polypropylene Corrugated Board (white stuff ) as the backing board, or Conservatek whi...

For anyone who is just setting up a web-site

I just thought I'd pass on a tip to anyone who's setup a website recently and is struggling to appear in Google searches. About 6 weeks ago this was all new to me, I went through a local Graphic Designer who also does websites, he purchased the domains for me and hosted them. He asked me to list abo...

Re: Whats in a name

It's kind of you to call it a "website" Gents , more of a web "page" at the moment
When I got my business cards made up, I had to get something up on the web quick, hence the single page, early days yet

cheers,

Re: Whats in a name

How about "Phil's frames" ? I went through this very process a few months ago and it seemed like the most difficult decision I have ever had to make . :sweating: I looked for suggestions from friends and relatives and the most memorable one ( for all the wrong reasons ) was "WELL HUNG...

Re: Valiani - whats the collective opinion

Hi LeFrisp, below is a photo of my MatPro 120 which I think you might be referring to, I bought it a couple of years ago with the optional oval mountcutter. I used to have a Fletcher Oval mountcutter but I found it a bit of a beast so I thought buying the oval mountcutter attachment would be a good ...

Stretcher bars V Stretcher bar moulding .... ?

Hi, I have stretched canvases over the years but not as many as you'd think. :sweating: Sometimes I have used stretcher bar moulding ( from Simons or Lion ) and sometimes I order stretcher bars to size. I'm never going to do that many canvases and for convenience I would prefer to use stretcher bar ...

Re: Business Insurance for Home Based Workshop ?

Thank you for your thoughts on Insurance, I had made a few enquiries but eventually returned to the FATG and was able to get a better quote by dropping Employers Liability, for some reason that had been included in my original quote from them. Perhaps after a year I can have another look around if I...

Re: Lion sept 27th event

So who did go to the Open Day at Lion on Sunday ? I was looking around at people and guessing what their Forum pseudonym might be but I didn't have a clue ... I enjoyed the seminars, particularly Lyn Hall's and Sue McDonagh's  Apparently LION will not be at the NEC next year, concentrating on ...

Business Insurance for Home Based Workshop ?

Hi, I have been dragging my feet with regards to Business Insurance but as it's 3 months since I setup my home based workshop I need to pull my finger out :sweating: I have been scouring the web and have made enquiries through the Guild for Insurance but I've been a bit surprised at the cost. As it'...

Re: ultimate gold, whats the difference

Hi Alec,
I just took a quick snap of the cutting arm of my Ultimat, if yours looks like this (without dials), then it looks like you've got an Ultimat. It has servered me well over the years if that makes you feel any better :)

cheers

Re: Backing board trends.

I use foam board, usually artcare - 5 or 3mm depending on the size. . Hi Robo, so you use white foamcore as a backing board ? or do you just use that as a barrier between the art and the backing board ? I'd have thought that foamcore is a bit susceptible to knocks / marking isn't it ? :sweating: rg...

Re: Cracked Slips ...

Thanks for getting back to me everyone, Prospero was spot on, there was about a 1cm gap between the edge of the frame and the canvas board. When I attached a backing board and tried to secure it at the back, I was putting too much stress on the slip. I was able to put a bigger backing board on the b...

Cracked Slips ...

Hi, I haven't used slips much in the past so any advice would really be appreciated. As you can see in the photo below, when I place the canvas board in the back of the frame and slip, a couple of the corners on the slip have gaped open :Slap: Now I had stuck AND underpinned the white slp (16mm wide...

Re: Feedback on Simons BACK 10

I did exactly the same as Mark, ordered the 8 instead of the 10 : ( Just bought some of the BACK10 last week and it seems pretty good, thought I could use it on certain items where conservation is less of an issue and I could mount onto the white paper side and not use a separate barrier ( wouldn't ...
