Be very careful if you're going to use plasticine or blue tack to pad the clamp...... don't forget that blue tack is a kind of glue-type-thing. If you are joining certain mouldings, say gold "leaf" covered ones it may beautifully lift the gold surface off the corners and leave it stuck to ...

Stretching canvases has never been my favourite task but what I find even worse is having to stretch those dreadful paintings that are on flimsy thin rippable white cloth. You know, the awful things that people bring back from abroad. More often than not the material wants to tear and the paint want...
