Double Mounting

I'm just about to embark on a bit of double mounting.. is there a rule of thumb of which colours to go for? I'm guessing to pick a colour within my photograph is a good start! :D (and mat on mat as I understand). I am also looking for a good quality mountboard in Lavender.... I've looked at Colourmo...

Mount Sizes

Final question - I have some A1 and A2 frames and would like to know what the ideal ratio is for mount size... ie, what would the ideal picture sizes be for A1/A2.
Many thanks.

Correct Measuring of Moulding to Cut on Morso

Hi there - I've had my morso and moulding sitting in my studio for a few weeks (due to other life pressures I haven't engaged with it properly) I am now ready to do so but am not really making sense of my notes for measuring etc :D So.. I have a mounted image which is 250mmx250mm. As I understand it...

CS88 OR CS79

Hello! I'm looking at Underpinners (Cassese). My framing will be simple, nothing fancy and the biggest one would probably be A1 size (mainly A3 size). I understand that the CS88 is the better of the two.. but is more expensive. I need a machine which is simple to use ... I have a morso so my mount c...

Re: Apperture sizing of Mount

Thanks for replies both. I'm not sure what I've done wrong as I thought my measurements were spot on (I think some weird calculation happened in my head)! Need to revisit my thought processes..... I'll get there....Thank you though! :D

Apperture sizing of Mount

Hello there.... OK... I have a frame and I have an image. This may seem like a really simple question (my apols as I'm a little dyslexic where maths is concerned) but is there a full proof and easy way to calcuate the size of the apperture? No hurry for replies as I know it's a BH weekend! Thank you.

STRAIGHT CUTTING WITH NEW FUTURA

Good morning! Hopefully this will be a simple one.. straight cutting - I'm using a double 012 blade (mount is colourfast C3975 so not a particularly stubborn mount? And this was the default blade when I received the machine). But it's not cutting through in one go. I swapped it for a single 012 and ...

Re: Band Clamps

Thanks for useful and informative replies..... It wouldn't surprise me if my friend works with raw wood and, also knowing him.. he wouldn't rush... at all. :) It's all good stuff to learn that there are different ways of doing things; that way I can make an informed decision of my way forward. For n...

Band Clamps

Good evening Framers... just putting this out there really. I met a friend today who's a carpenter and he makes and sells his own frames. Because he's a carpenter and not a framer he uses band clamps and not an underpinner. From what he was telling me, it seems pretty straight forward. I am just get...

VEHICLES

Good morning! :D My present vehicle is a car (Mazda CX-3 Sport) which I love but it's become apparent to me I need to sell and buy AN vehicle which will accommodate my framed work (shows/markets). Gone are the days when I could drive some huge car - am thinking more small van or similar car - Citroe...

Suggestions please..

Thanks to this brilliant forum I have now sourced a (nearly new) morso and (new) keencut. I'm unable to afford the same again for underpinner and board cutter... it was suggested a second hand Cassesse CS88 is the best manual machine to go for (and not the newer version)?... any recommendations for ...
