Re: Morso on solid floor

Hello Ed :D Sorry you have had no response so far to your request for help :( and again sorry I have not much to offer. I can see you have considered a number of possibilities without success. All I can say is a concrete plinth is worth a try. Although it would be a little disruptive for a day or so...

Re: Is anyone going to the Spring Fair at the NEC?

Hi nameless :D hope your well. I am sorry to hear Jill is not displaying at the NEC this year and I hope her Scot's show is a success. IMHO her work stood out amongst a great deal of other talent. I assume that costs/logistics would be a factor as to where/when and how often someone has a stand. Not...

Re: Is anyone going to the Spring Fair at the NEC?

I went last year after a break of a few years and yes it's not what it was. :( But IMHO it's well worth a visit for trends and tips as others have said. I came away not only inspired but with a sack full of leaflets, info' and card samples that I only finished reading recently. I enjoyed meeting lik...

Re: stopping cracks

Hi Ross

If I had your issue i would be inclined to try;

Apply glue then clamp as tight as pos' in a band or tourneque type clamp then underpin and leave in the clamp untill the glue is cured.

The position, and how you stack, as well as the size of the vnails must be considered.

Good luck.

Re: A type of punch?

James, that is the type I am looking for :D . You do hit it with a hammer and the sleeve prevents the punch from slipping off the veneer pin. I have since found a number of suppliers on line and it's now a matter of obtaining one of a suitable size. I am sorry if my poor/inaccurate description was m...

Re: A type of punch?

I can now be more specific as to what I am looking for. :D I believe it's called a "Pin punch with guide sleeve". This info' came from a woodworking forum. With luck I may be able to track one down. In the meantime if you have one or hear of one I am very interested. Many thanks. Peter.

Re: A type of punch?

SteveB, sadly that's not it :( thanks for trying to help. prospero, I'm not surprised you know what I'm looking for 8) and if you do manage to dig one up i would appreciate it. I think I bought mine from Roger Turner (Kingfisher mouldings) in the late seventies :? If I remember correctly it was chro...

Re: A type of punch?

Thanks for trying to help :D

The type of punch I'm looking for is for panel/veneer pins and not for v nails.

Thanks again.

A type of punch?

As I do not know the correct name of this nail punch I will attempt to describe it :? What made this little punch unique was the "sliding sleeve" that slid up and down over the business end of the punch. The sliding sleeve would slip over the head of the veneer pin preventing the end of th...

Re: what would you do?

I would not have turned it down. :D I would have tackled it as prospero or kartoffelngeist suggested. In a life time of framing, and then some I don't recall turning any work down. Jerome, fascinating video with a good sound track, thanks for posting  IFGL, wish I could say the same about your...

Re: Glass

That sounds a good solution from Folly Framer :D What works for me in getting rid of my glass cullet is to dump it in the skip of a replacement doors/windows company just down the road. It would appear they do not stock 2mm glass so the send the occasional customer to me. :D In return they allow me ...

Re: Pre framing storage

Large plan chest for me plus a couple cheapo pine chest of drawers from the local auction house. One (4 drawer) fits nicely under my 7 x 7 ft work bench. The other is positioned conveniently behind me when doing the final assembly. I find it quicker and less hassle to pop in my local auction house o...

Good afternoon Mal

Thank you for your reply and explanation for leaving a small gap between your boards.

I too can always find another job to do while waiting for something to adhere or dry.

FWIW I would be looking to the future and buying the best I can afford for the reasons given by Mark (NYAF) excellent advice by the way :D

Who knows you may soon be mounting and framing more than a couple of items a week

Very best of luck with you new venture and welcome to the FF.
