Re: where to purchase small deep box frames
Well wherever they make them, the are probably manufacturing for M&S now too. In there today they had oak frames with a cream mount and matching oak mount slip for a 6x4 photo for £6. Would have to make a few to break even on materials alone at that rate. I guess that they could be deconstructed...

Re: Water or spirit based stain
Thanks all, I feel some experimentation coming on. I like the idea of the van dyck crystals, sounds like hours of fun! Wouldn't have thought of using both spirit and water together so thanks for that. Robo, what issues do you have with obeche? I will try to above an a variety of woods but interested...

Water or spirit based stain
I am about to buy some stain to colour an obeche frame which I then intend to wax up to a bit of a sheen. I have found that there is a choice of water or spirit based stains available. Having read some of the product literature, i am still none the wiser really as to the pros and cons of each. Could...

Re: Techincal support and sensible chanels for support
When purchasing expensive and/or business critical machinery or software, support should be included in your annual expense budget as you would rent, insurance etc. In the commercial IT industry it was not unusual to charge 25-30% of the purchase price per anum for support. The businesses were depen...

Re: MORSO KNEE ..
I suffer in my arthritic hip in the left leg whilst supporting the right one doing the cutting. I have had some cartilage removed from my right knee through sporting misdemeanors and have found that keeping the knee dead straight and avoiding any rotation whilst exerting pressure helps keep it in or...

Re: Foamcore or mountboard
Foamcore for me. Don't like them though, so many not symmetrical. Agree with Robo re not stretching too tight, think they don't look nice like that. Sometimes they can be a bit creased if delivered in a carrier bag so a bit of stretch helps though.

Just to add my thanks to everyone too. A thoroughly good day and an enjoyable evening. I now have a "gilded" frame which will need a little distressing to hide the gaps and creases! Thanks Richard for a very interesting and enjoyable workshop and to Mel for an interesting seminar. Look for...

Re: How to stop mount gaping ...
Hello Chris. Just done one similar size for 9 photo's in a fairly shallow ash moulding. I use Art-Bak which claims to be bowed to keep things flat. You can barely notice any curvature but It seems to work as it is flat against the glass.

Hello Adam. If the customer wants it sticking down, give Steve a call and see if there is anyone nearby with a JetMounter that you may be able to offer HotPress services too in exchange.
