OK guys - many thanks for your replies. I will give Arqadia a call and also investigate alternatives at Lion.

Artcore Mouldings

I have a customer who is very keen on an Arqadia Artcore Moulding (8580AC982) but Artcore is only available as a box quantity and is therefore too much for me to handle and therefore order. Does anyone know if a supplier does Arqadia Artcore by the length or as a chop service?

Many thanks.....Bob

Generating Orders/Income

I started my framing business in October and have completed about 30 jobs but only for friends and family (I did charge them). They are very pleased with the quality of my work which I am encouraged by. I am still working full-time and aim to build up my business to supplement my semi-retirement in ...

Re: Guillotine v mitre saw

I use a De Walt Mitre Saw on its own stand onto which I have added my own measurement jig. This allows me to cut accurately to length and use a production stop to cut the two longer lengths of moulding to size and then reset for the shorter lengths. I cut all lengths 5mm over and then finish the cut...

Re: BILLING CUSTOMER THROUGH PAYPAL ?

Hi Adam, I was also thinking of using Paypal for payments which then allows customers to pay via their nominated account securely. Rather than use my personal Paypal account I was thinking of setting up a new account in the business name if this was possible. Like yourself, I would be interested in ...

Re: Moulding Issue

Huge thanks to everyone who responded - very helpful advice which I am a bit more confident about tackling. I will try one of the smaller areas first and then try and tackle this large obtrusion.

Thanks......Bob

Moulding Issue

I would be very grateful for some advice on a moulding issue that I have. I have an order for an ornate mirror and have had the 100mm Arqadia delivered already chopped. When I have dry assembled the pieces there is a very raised area on one of the corners. This because that cut has gone through a ve...

Re: Larson Juhl Florentina chevrons

Hi Thyrsis,

I would be interested in these - I assume there are 8 of the 45mm and 8 of the 73mm? Do you also have the 30mm set? Shame I was in Oxford last week but not planning to get over for a while so if I take them, I will need to ask you to post them.

Thanks....Bob

Dilemma with Pricing!

As a neewby, I am pleased to say that I am now starting to get some orders although it is slow (expected). I am working from home so space for a large amount of stock of moulding is a non-starter. So my approach is as orders come in I will order packs (2 lengths) from Arqadia and I can then fulfil t...

Re: Chipping on Moulding Corners

Many thanks guys for your very helpful replies. I am sort of reassured that other people have had this problem and that it could be the fault of the thickness of the coating on the moulding. I also can see that the top cut attachment would help but my guillotine is not this make. Should be able to k...

Chipping on Moulding Corners

I wonder if anyone can offer advice on how to prevent chipping on the outside corner of some mouldings that I am cutting. I am getting this problem on a 40mm Silver Scoop profile that I am currently working on. I am using a chopsaw for the rough cut (no chips) but as the chopsaw is not bang on 45 de...

Re: Steel band clamps

If you use buscuits at the joints and then a strap-clamp (leaving it overnight as suggested) do you think that it should still be pinned (belt and braces?). Also can anyone advise on the best glue brand that gives the strongest joint but does not mark the moulding surface if it leaks out when clampi...

Re: Mitre Saw Jig

Thanks you very much for your quick replies and information. I have a lot more idea about how to go about this jig. Just need to decide how long to make it - sod's law I will make it and then need to do a job which is 10cm longer!! Such is life.

Thanks again.

Mitre Saw Jig

I am new to the Forum and already a convert having browsed through the interesting topics. I am a new framer and have a lot to learn so I am starting off slowly (already identified about 15 reframing/remounting jobs around the house). I can't afford a Morso (yet!) or similar but I am keen to cut as ...
