I have made my own system using a pricing system that was made in excel and posted on here a few years ago.
Now I have it in Google Sheets so although it is just me it could be accessed and edited by others in real time.

Re: Advice Appreicated
Thanks Mark, Based on how this thread has gone I think I'd like to source someone local to me. I've been given the name of one in central Glasgow, so 20 miles or so, ideally I'd like to find one closer so nipping in would be easier. Where are you in Scotland? How sure are you of the 50 per week? If...

Re: Chop service
I don't use chop service but I agree that the price displayed should be the price paid.
I would be annoyed if I saw a price of £7.77 + vat for chop and got charged £9.31 + vat.

Re: back edge shredding
As others have said this can just be an issue with the type of moulding, or even just certain parts of the moulding. Are you sure blades are sharp? If mine are and I'm still getting this issue I put a strip of backing board at the back and then cut to the 2nd last cut of the morso which cuts through...

Re: Engraver-cutters
I often order engraved plaques for football tops, war medals etc. so it could be used for that. I also occasionally get the mount engraved directly so that's a possibility. I don't imagine it would be cost effective for me to get one for the amount of times I would use it, but if you have easy acces...

Re: Airlines in the workshop
I just use a curly hose although mine is for the stapler as my tab gun is a hand tool. It is around 1m long although in theory stretches to I think 5m but I only need around 2 or 3m. The stapler just gets hung on a hook near the compressor when not in use.

Re: Critiquing again
Looks good to me.
I don't mind a bottom weighted mount on a landscape orientation but it jars for me on something that is portrait.
Is there a reason for the spacer, and is the glass in between the spacer and the frame?

Re: Critiquing a piece of framed work.
I love it generally and I like the colours and the frame. My only complaint is that I think it's a bit busy around the print. I would need to see it in person to know if the print can take that, it's difficult to tell with a photo. It looks as though there is already the rounded mount with the title...

Re: How much space and where is the middle?
Interesting that we have a few different views already. I actually ended up framing it ever so slightly to the right of where the bottom one is, so neither the branch, nor the birds were exactly in the centre, but somewhere between the two although closer to the birds than the branch (if that all ma...

Re: I Wish I'd Framed That.
It's nice enough and I appreciate a nice wide mount (although I prefer if the bottom isn't weighted) but I would choose a wider frame. I think that look with a really wide mount but a really narrow frame is quite old fashioned. I also give customers free reign when it comes to choosing frames and mo...

Re: Large Tapestry
If it's already square and quite heavy I would probably just try hanging it as it is and see how it looks.
Your customer will appreciate you not charging loads for something that is maybe not required.
If it needs stretched I would sew extensions on to the edge and stretch them over stretcher bars.

Re: Framing Medals
I think it would be much easier just putting in a removable back with bendy tabs rather than a hinged frame or anything equally as complicated. All medals I've done have been fixed but I think if they wanted them to be removable it should be easy enough to just mount them on the bar that they are on...

Re: Morso/Underpinner angles
In my experience anytime I've ever had an issue with cuts/joins and I know that my underpinner & morso are set correctly it's always been the blades. If I have a set of blades that aren't right I just buy a new set, it might sound excessive but it's not worth all the wasted time fiddling about....

Re: What stain brand is best with obeche
I use Smith and Roger stains for all of my framing although I did use the Liberon dyes in the past and they were fine.
I then use liberon wax to seal it and then buff it with an old tshirt.
The finish is fine although I definitely prefer using walnut or oak.

Re: sizing issue
Firstly an 11 millimetre frame for a 1.2 metre mirror? It's always the glass size for measuring, passing on sizes etc. But a customer isn't necessarily to know that. I always ask to see the item so I can measure, or if not I check and double check what we are talking about. The customer dictating th...

Re: Mount board
Who is going to supply your framing stuff and what boards do they sell? I use Centrado so their own boards as well as Daler and Munken Duo are all the same thickness so my Keencut Ultimat Gold is set up for them and stays the same. Cutting mounts is not particularly difficult, so just buy 1 extra bo...
