Re: Art suggestions for gallery

I run a gallery and Gesso and Bole's advice is good. If you have a window try regularly changing your display, people will notice and might well attract more artists and/or more framing. Most artist offer work in galleries on commission (sale or return) I'd suggest choosing artist's who you think ar...

Re: Trucut Mount Cutter

We run a TruCut Alpha and it's a great machine. One thing to look out for is which version of Windows the software is running on - the conversion (if still available) cost about £2k

When you planning on opening Steve?

Our phone has been quite busy today with people asking when we're going to open, but not sure of current government guidance?

We didn't open either of our shops today and have furloughed all our staff, at least that way they will get guaranteed 80% of there wages for the next 3 months.
Orders are coming in on line and now there's only me to do it!

Re: Business Insurance.

If your insurance company comes under FCA regulation and you've checked the policy you will be fine, there's far more risk in being under insured, which can have very serious consequences.

Re: Reducing Plastic In A Framing Business.

This product is on my list to try, maybe they'll send a sample. https://www.kitepackaging.co.uk/scp/bubble-wrap/paper-bubble-wrap/ We've been using this product for a little while now. It's a little more expensive than bubble wrap ,maybe not quite as protective on it's own and on some painted frame...

Re: Creative mountcutting and mount decoration

Picture framing seems to be led by fashion/trends and right now most of my customers are choosing things that are plain and simple, and a far cry from what we were supplying even 10 years ago Although we've had a CMC mount cutter for over 20 years the majority of work its ever done is producing squa...

Re: To build an online gallery or not, that is the question

We run an online gallery in conjunction with a 'bricks and mortar' gallery and it sells a reasonably amount of original paintings, although after 5 years the online sales wouldn't be viable on there own. We're based in a holiday area and this is one of the rare time's in this busy world we live in, ...

Re: Quick Question on Client Consultation

The UK high streets are failing (or in some cases have failed) for many reasons. It's really not helped by a fall in discretionary spending, spurred by rising shop prices and weak wage growth and a near 15% devaluation of the pound since Brexit, making imported goods dearer. All of which could be cyc...

Re: Arqadia L/J web ordering.... anyone out there got a clue

It's astonishing to think a company would take down a website that worked perfectly well and replace it with a untested site where it appears they're finding it incredibly difficult to get orders out? Waiting 5 days for an overnight order is hardly 'just in time'! I've just been phoned by Arqadia? L...

Re: Ltd. Company

Most of the tax advantages of being a Limited Company have disappeared since the introduction of the dividend tax. It does offer some protection, but personal guarantee's will still be required for leases's, loans and probably overdrafts A possible advantage going forwards, is that if we hard Brexit...
