Re: Newbie Advice - Attaching a large print with no window

A0 is just over the standard size (for LJ board at least) so you may need jumbo board. Cut the board to the size of the print and place 2 to 3 hinges at the top as normal but fold them over the back of the mount and T on the back. The top hinges should be tight. Continue round the work placing hinge...

Re: Frames for LP covers

Come to think of it, I used flat canvas offsets on the back so I must have used a shallower moulding, probably sw2724 oak. With an R&H 1406 spacer, float glass, mdf. About £55. Went rapidly from a potentially interesting project to a budget in and out job who I'll never see again, but may get a ...

Re: Frames for LP covers

I did one of these recently, I stained/painted a Rose and Hollis SW3850 Oak with a small sawtooth hanger on the top. Customer left me with 2 album covers to size it and of course they were different sizes. Had to warn him that unless we put in a fillet/slip in the front, there was no guarantee that ...

Re: For Sale :Keencut Ultimat Futura 1200

Still for sale. This really is like buying a £1900 new machine with all extras for £500 off! It had a brand new cutting bar installed this May, after a production problem at Keencut and with the lockdowns, it's seen so little work. I am not happy to send by courier for obvious reasons but often trav...

Re: How to mount an acrylic painting in a floating box frame

Have you considered close framing it? That would solve the issue. If not of high value, I sometimes use a water based grab adhesive like Bond-It Saves Nails SF, but I'd be concerned that it will eventually pull away from the panel backing paper that its adhered to...

But what is the substrate of the panel made of? What is the canvas attached to and how?

Re: How to mount an acrylic painting in a floating box frame

I immediately assumed it was painted onto acrylic, but I see where you're coming from! :giggle: When mounting floating board to back mount I always use EVA. Weldbond is a very strong glue for many materials, however you will effectively be gluing to the face paper of the back mount which will not of...

Jim, you could try https://artifex-imaging.co.uk/. Based in Ruthin North Wales. Nice guy, he retired from framing a few years ago to concentrate on the printing side of things.

5 Star Hand Finishing Training.

I just want to say what a great day we had recently with Jim of Jeremy Anderson Picture Framing in Nottingham (Gesso & Bolle on the forum). As part of our Busman's holiday staycation trip away, we booked in for a day of hand finishing training with Jim. After many years in the trade, Jim now has...

Framing Photography Book

I accidentally bought an extra used copy of The Library Of Professional Picture Framing Volume 6 Framing Photography. Ebay described it as used, may have pencil and highlighter marks etc. Happy to sell it on for cost(£12) plus postage (?). These volumes don't come up often, especially at this price,...

Re: WANTED: morso deep rebate supports

I bought some and the first tall moulding I tried to use them on was too tall for them....
I cut a few pieces of various size wood to fit on top of the standard rebate supports, works a treat.

Re: Workshop tips

As above, but I disagree that 2 people can work at my 8x4 bench! We tried. Now my partner has a 3x6 table of her own, for fitting/hand finishing. Underpinner against one corner of my workbench, saves space as workbench acts as moulding support. My next job is to reduce my "office" desk spa...

I think you've found your answer Matt, prefinished mouldings could be a slippery slope. It sounds like you already have a solid USP
