Re: Vegas baby!

Thanks all, it's not going to take much persuasion for me to push the button! Just waiting to hear back from a framer friend, who may come with me. Yes I'm waiting for updates about the workshops and bulk deals, sounds like the way forward. Thanks for the encouragement! Anyone else thinking about go...

Now I am having doubts. With no way to test if the alcohol will react with the inks that the print is printed with, I think you are right, that I should just stick to the tried and tested route on this occasion.

I have a customer waiting for the piece, so need to get my skates on n do some intensive practice. Anyone wit...

Re: To chop or not to chop

Incidentally, with regards to price of jobs, I have just done a few comparisons between length and chop on the framiac software. Once wastage for length is added (mine was set at 50%(!) by default) prices are very similar. Obviously profit is lower as there is less labour factored in, but helps the ...

Re: Drymounting oil pastels

@Fran When you say that it is supported on grey board, can it safely be removed from that board? That would be a good start imo. If she insists on dry mounting then I would 100% have her sign a disclaimer.

Hedgehog here too. I used pass through hinges for ages until one valuable piece cockled so badly. If done properly hedgehog is quick and very easy compared to pass through.

Re: Drymounting oil pastels

It may depend on the heat that the particular brand of tissue you use requires, but I would comfortably say no. My hotpress runs at 92o for mounting, so it' is going to melt anything oil/wax based! @atomgallery If the process and implications are explained fully to the customer and they make an info...

Re: To chop or not to chop

I agree, I've been working on this premise for a while now. It's purely down to cost of goods incl delivery. Some suppliers have added a separate chop delivery cost recently, whereas I used to be able to add a chop to a length order and only pay one delivery charge. Yesterday a 2.8m chop incl delive...

Re: First OS map coming in tomorrow....

Just DO NOT vacuum press those bespoke OS Maps, they're disublimated(?) rather than inkjet and so any heat blurs the image. They can be mounted with a cold roller press though. I use a local signage/display company to mount work like this or if it's too big for my hotpress. If you do ever need to mo...

Re: Do you photograph your finished frames? If so, do you publish them?

My advice would be get your business Facebook and Instagram pages setup soon. Then register your business with Google and place it on Google Maps. It can take 3 months for fb insta and your website to get listed properly on Google searches so the sooner the better. Get a website home page up asap, w...

Yes of course, it was the idea of hangers on 8mm that I was referring to.
