Re: Brown core mount board

I've not seen any mountboard with brown/gold core. How about painting the bevel yourself to the required colour. If you search for painted bevels on the Forum it should turn up one of the experts 'how to..'.

Re: Spring Fair?

Spent about 5 hours at the Fair yesterday and I think it was worthwhile. Learnt a lot more about CMCs (need to save lots of pennies now!), attended a couple of the seminars and, for the first time, I had a serious look at some of the art suppliers/publishers. As the NEC is less than an hour away I t...

Re: A Big One for Christmas

That is a great series of posts and so inspiring - it's made my framing Christmas! I've just started to dabble in hand finishing frames and even my simple attempts provide a level of satisfaction that is absent from factory finishes. I hope one day to reach the level demonstrated here. Regards, Steve

Re: BILLING CUSTOMER THROUGH PAYPAL ?

Paypal can provide a business account that allows you to take payments using a virtual terminal, that will allow you to take debit/credit card payments over the phone or whilst the customer is with you. They say it costs £20 a month and a small amount from each sale (doesn't stipulate what that is)....

Re: I'm a little stumped...

The customer came back in today to select a frame for the oil painting. Now she has seen it stretched and with some corner samples on it took very little effort on my part to move her away from a brown moulding to greys/silvers/blacks. The final selection was a 2" wide moulding in antique lead ...

Re: I'm a little stumped...

Thank you all. It looks like I'll be rooting through my collection of matchpot paints to find something suitable and refreshing my myself on some of the hand finishing posts.

I'm a little stumped...

over the type and finish of a frame :sweating:. This oil painting has been brought in for framing and the customer has her heart set on a frame with a light brown finish. Native American_edited-1.jpg Given the predominant colours of the painting are grey/cream/black/white what style colour of frame ...

Re: Tripple aperture double mount

I find the most accurate method is to use a slightly smaller board for the lower mount(s) always using the top mat to take your measurements from. The principle is better explained in a you tube video, link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkR3DvskjBM Happy to talk it through over the phone or you...

Re: Business to business pricing

All,

Thanks for the responses. I think that my quotes to the photographers will reflect normal pricing and that any repeat work could attract discounts in the future.

Again, thanks all.

Business to business pricing

I have been approached by a couple of photographers to provide quotes for framing to match the style they provide or are thinking of offering their customers. Using my pricing software I am quite comfortable quoting/pricing for 'normal' customers but not having any experience of business to business...

Re: Framing Morale required!

Hi V-Nail,

As Prospero said you have good equipment but I might suggest that you get your self on some training. Hobby or not, you could be wasting a lot of money, some time with a trainer/experienced framer will provide real benefit.

Re: New Starter - Hi....

Welcome and good luck. I was in a similar position to you about a year ago and formally began trading in March this year. My biggest underestimation was the length of time it takes to build up a customer base, there is plenty of advice on here about various marketing methods, you will have to decide...
