Re: Needed: Oval double mount in Daler mountboard

Hi John,
I meant to say thanks for the reply and the offer, but I'm rethinking the job. By the time I've paid postage both ways the job won't be worth doing as the mount is for an existing frame, so the job isn't worth much unfortunately.
Thanks anyway,
Jo

Needed: Oval double mount in Daler mountboard

Hi, if anyone could give me a price for a double oval mount including posting it to me, I would be very grateful! I don't have an oval cutter at the moment but I don't want to let a regular customer down. It's to fit in an existing oval frame, so needs to be oval internally and externally. Outside s...

Re: Glass question

I get my glass from the Leamington depot of Wessex since they merged with Glass & Mirror, and they don't offer the recycling service anymore. My offcuts are building up again....

Re: WANTED: Supplier of thick mounts!

It's just the old Valiani pneumatic headed cutter, not a CMC!

WANTED: Supplier of thick mounts!

Hi all, I have a photographer customer who wants 3.5mm mounts for their photographs, but I only have a Valiani Mat-Pro which won't cut it. Is there anyone on here who could supply them to me, either by post or collection if you are vaguely near Leicestershire (or Aldershot.) Looking for Arqadia's Sn...

Re: Waste glass disposal.

Float glass should DEFINITELY not be put in the recycling bins at the supermarket, I know that much. (Which is a terrible shame as there is one 30yds from my door) For about the first three years I was open, I had no idea what to do with the glass so ended up with a workshop full of offcuts! I'm now...

Janet Treby

Hi all,
Does anyone happen to know who is currently publishing Janet Treby's work? Or even if she has done anything new lately? I can't seem to find her anywhere at the moment, even with lots of Googling!
Many thanks, Jo

Wanted: Arqadia Red Confetti Moulding

Hi all, I'm in need of just a couple of lengths of Arqadia's Confetti range 140 635 Red moulding to complete a job but they are out of stock until deliveries mid-June. Has anyone got a couple of lengths tucked away that they could part with and help me out? Preferably in the Midlands area so I can c...

What would frames have been like in the 1910's / 1920's?!!

A customer has bought in some watercolours that her grandmother painted around 1920, featuring ladies in the fashions of the period. They are only about 15"x11" but she would like them framed as they might have been at the time as she also lives in a house built around that time. I guess w...

Mine is EXACTLY 3m which in theory is absolutely perfect, but if a length of moulding is a shade over 3m or if it is wide and I get it caught at an angle, I end up taking chunks out of the ceiling! Another 10cm would have been great....

Yes, I thought that would be the obvious thing to do, but several stains later neither I nor my customer can get a good match!

Dark Wood Mount Slip - Ideas Anyone?

Hello!
I frame for a photographer who likes to have mountslips on all her work, but we are struggling to find one to match a dark wood frame from Arqadia that she uses. Has anyone seen anything like that, and if so, where was it from?!!
Thank you!

Dry Mounting, Heat Sealing etc...

I have recently bought a Hot Press to complete the services I can offer my customers, but I'm not too sure what to charge for these services. I have a photographer particularly interested in canvas bonding but need to complete with all the online services offered. Anyone willing to tell me roughly w...

Pricing

Yes, I am using BBEst but I think I adjusted the stretching prices as they seemed high. It gives me a price of just over £50 at the moment.

Solomon & Whitehead and the Spring Fair

Hey Square Frames, Solomon & Whitehead WERE there! Admittedly they were trying a different approach by ONLY exhibiting originals by their stable of artists but it looked pretty good and the glass of champagne made the show more bearable! OK, I confess, I nearly walked by them as they had a much ...

Canvas Stretching

Hello, For many months I have wondered over how much to charge for canvas stretching so finally thought it might be a good idea to ask around! I know I'm not losing money on them but keep thinking I could be making more!! Stretching in preparation for framing is one thing but with the increased popu...

Fabric Stretching

Hi all, I know there's been many topics about fabric stretching but this is just a simple quick question! What do people recommend using for the lacing of fabric pieces? Everything I've tried is too stretchy or too weak but I know there must be something ideal out there that I haven't tried yet. You...
