Re: Flecks in Mount Board

My understanding of this problem (after a lengthy discussion with my A&T Rep) is that the problem is the sequence in the manufacturing process with most,if not all manufacturers. In that when the boards and laid during the process, the manufacturers produce all boards in the same machinery/plant...

Re: How not to float mount a print

As a previous member of the FATG, I have to agree that I would not accept this as a standard befitting the guidelines of the FATG and should not be bearing the mark of a GCF. Personally, I am a "previous member" as I did not feel I gained anything from them, I was even asked to change a po...

Re: Fletcher framemaster point gun

Maybe a silly point to check.. but have you turned the block around when changing between framers and glazing points.. the feed channel is slightly different for the different points. Can't remember the exact procedure but I know you do have to rotate the block in order for it to work

Re: Protection of artwork/photo

I get a 1250 micron double sided board fro A&T to use as barrier boards... it has the same properties as the mount board I use... only thinner. Supplied in quantities of 25 and a reasonable price too.. colour mount also do a 600micron barrier board but I find it is just too thin so stopped using...

Re: Looking for reliable Mount Cutter advice

When I started out framing as a hobby, my first purchase was an Alto 45 mount cutter.. I think I paid £60 for the cutter 25 years ago and then about 5 years later, I found the cutting system to match it for another £40-50 on fleabay... I still have this cutter now and still occasionally use it purel...

If I could make a space for it.... I'd happily take it... and I even know it personally.... not in the biblical sense obviously :-)

An important point to also note is to get something that YOU are happy with. Try to get test prints from your choice of printers... Epson and Canon are among the usual suspects for great quality photo printing. They both have pros and cons in terms if ink costs and replaceable print heads. I have al...

There is a C & H advantage pro for sale on fleabay just now but it is £400 + £50 postage.. give easypopsgcf a message on here.. they had 1 for sale some time ago that I was going to buy before I invested in the Gunnar F1. It was quite a while ago, but you never know, he may still have it tucked ...

Re: Backlighting in a frame

If you are moderately electronically minded, the I would suggest SMD leds and position them wherever you want in the frame then wiring them up with something small like a 22awg wire or even Kynar if you can track some down.. this would be easily hidden behind the mount/rebate and weighs next to noth...

Further to my post earlier... the moulding I was thinking of was A&T 2125.3305 http://www.ashworthandthompson.co.uk/2125-3305.html.. this picture really doesn't represent the true colour though.. it is more of a petrol blue, it is still a stock item though and available... either that or lion Ys...

I like the blue and green cloths in the home range... they are quite a chunky cloth so plenty absorbent and leave a streak free finish with Nilglass cleaner....

Did this thread ever get any legs? I for one would be interested to see what designs other users are playing with, and I would also be willing to share my own designs.. my main reason (albeit slightly hairbrained) for investing in a cmc was to be able to cut elaborate shapes and particularly militar...
