Re: Stiffening up the fence on my exising table saw.
Table saw safety is a real big deal and I'm not joking! You can get seriously badly hurt on a table saw. It's one of the most dangerous pieces of machinery in most work working shops. One mistake might be enough to kill you. Have really good look at some of the safety videos of youtube. Most contrac...

Re: Stiffening up the fence on my exising table saw.
I know the problem well! A perfect set up on contractors saw is not really what the scales and angle measurements on a contractor saw are made for. The angle of blade setting according to the markings of the saw are not made to be super accurate, and if you are expecting the fence to super accurate,...

Re: Dust Extractor
Henry vacs are great! I have noticed that making sawdust is often a lot easier than making anything useful. Like it, or not, I'm very good at turning useful wood into saw dust, most of us are!

Re: Dust Extractor
I have a workshop vacuum cleaner which I bought from Agos years ago, it's very noisy and does not have a power take off where you can plug in your power tools to self start the vacuum cleaner when you switch on your power tools. I rarely use it because the noise is normally too much, but a reasonabl...

Re: Shortage of moulding stock at suppliers ....
Yes Jo, I was adding a little bit more information in regard that most people know Frinton only for their hand finished frames only. But they do produce handfinished lengths of moulding as well. I may not have worded it particularly well. I also had no intention cause any annoyance to you and if I h...

Re: Shortage of moulding stock at suppliers ....
So o.k., turning the problem on it's head what's left which is decent quality mouldings, not gold? How badly is this going to hit availability of other nice mouldings other than gold mouldings. We've already heard from one framers not finding this very easy. Who else is struggling to get stock? Are ...

Re: Shortage of moulding stock at suppliers ....
Have you seen the Frinton gallery aka Frinton frames catalogues? They also make hand finished mouldings which they sell by length as well. The quality is great and the prices are not bad either! I bought some chevron samples of some of their more decorative frames from them. I must say that I was ve...

Re: HGP360 vacuum press
I've heard it said that a layer of felt under what you are trying to use under the item being dry mounted can sometimes enable air flow underneath and help to pull a more evenly distruted vacuum. This is supposed to be helpful sometimes!

Re: Shortage of moulding stock at suppliers ....
I like to avoid being to dependant on suppliers having what I need in stock at any particular time. Running around seeing if other suppliers have something which is already out of stock at the usual suppier seems to me to be too often a losing battle. Sitting around waiting foe ages for mouldings to...

Re: Cleaning Glass
I did for a while try some lint free cleaning cloths from Asda and they were quite good , but I sort of drifted back to using dispoable kitchen towel rolls. I don't really know why, I don't think it was a concisous decision, it just happened. For glass cleaner I have a big container of Nilglass and ...

Re: putting images on mountboard
Are you talking about printing directly onto mountboard? If so the Arqadia 400 series of alpha cellulose mountboard seems absorb colur very easily and with out going all blotchy. Howewer, if you are talking about mounting cheap open edition prints with a significant ongoing collectablity, or importa...

Re: Shortage of moulding stock at suppliers ....
Yes, Propero, I really like Rose and Hollis a lot as well, but Rose and Hollis are not only good from that aspect, these also have quite a lot of quite nice "different" mouldings which have that little bit more extra interest, which I find really helpful. Obeche has those irritating little flects in...

how reliable are couriers at delivering orders on time these days.
I've got to order various things for in my shop quite soon and was just wondering if I am going to be waiting for days and days, without knowing when my deliveries are going to turn up. Can anyone clue me in, what things are like these days please. I've rather been out of the loop for quite a long t...
