Re: Over cuts on mounts.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about over cuts on the back of the mount which I get on my ultimat gold manual cutter and was wondering is that normal? I've never been bothered by it before until I noticed on the back of a mount cut by someone else that there wasn't a sign of over cuts whatsoever and ...

You're absolutely right Peter, you can't  Cheers :coffee: (can we have a tea emoji on the forum please :D )

Back to topic, is the Axminster framers vice any good? It's the same price new as the one being offered second hand so was just wondering? I have often thought of getting one myself.

Over cuts on mounts.

I'm not talking about over cuts on the mount face but on the back. I've got my Ultimat Gold set up just nice but I do get over cuts on the back of the mount... that's normal right? :? Anyway, just had some mounted work in on fairly thick board with very nicely cut windows but when I look at the back...

Re: Newbie Advice

Welcome to the forum :handshake: IF this has to be done then it can be done successfully. You need to apply plenty of wet glue and get the canvas print on quickly before any of the glue starts to dry out which can cause the bubbles. You then need to weight it all down overnight. Are these inkjet can...

Re: Picture hooks

Never used these hooks myself. Lion sell them with the following warning: "Use cord not wire. Do not use these hooks for heavy or valuable pictures or where items below might get damaged." On balance I prefer the more traditional brass hook with the hardened pins. Me too :D For hard/solid ...

Re: Which glue for waxy Paper?

I agree with everyone's comments so far.

If the waxy paper is to go behind a window-mount then you could use none glue methods such as corner pockets or platform mount or mylar etc.

Is the paper waxy on both sides?

Morso not required!

Had a trip to the Manchester Art Gallery yesterday and saw an exhibition called 'Reframe'. http://manchesterartgallery.org/exhibitions-and-events/exhibition/reframe/ As usual the standard of framing wasn't much cop. The moulding was probably stored in a damp shed :Slap: Nice pictures though 8) IMG_1...

Re: Board Time

Thanks John.

I did change my time preferences back in October but as I say the time is wrong when I am logged out, see attachments.

Having said that, it is now showing as correct, did you do something?

Cheers :D

Board Time

Can the board time be corrected please?

It is correct when I'm logged in but jumps ahead an hour when I log out.

Many thanks :D
Dave.

Same for me too, Swann-Morton with 10a and 11 blades. I also use a Stanley knife with retractable blade and locking wheel which is one of my favourite tools and I panic when I can't find it... I also have my name written on it and I work by myself

Re: Glass cutting when you start framing

Hi Dan, If you have an account with Wessex then you should sign up on their website to be an online member and then you can use their 'glass cut to size calculator' to get prices for any size/material. It is more expensive to get glass cut to size, but to get going when starting out could be a good ...

If your new job is really going to be that boring you could always listen to some Vogon poetry to get you through the day :giggle:
