Re: The Ugly - Fixings and taping up the back...
We had to do a repair job recently - visiting a customer's home to re-tension a canvas bought from a large gallery up country. The canvas had relaxed considerably. We discovered no bracing bars, despite it being around 5ft square, so that strainer moulding they'd used had bowed in on each side. They...

Re: The Story of a Picture Frame
Absolutely fascinating to see the process. Particularly love the spray gun  having watched Alec meticulously cleaning everything down after doing paint finishes - might just have to invest in a dedicated gesso one that he can leave to get crusty :D We are very lucky to have a bespoke staircase...

We’ve tried various places over the years with varying results, but switched to Mainline quite some time ago. Always superb service and on a Morso sharpening machine. Picked up and delivered back without problem and easy to book online or by phone. https://www.mainlinemouldings.com/index.php?Departm...

We live in a seaside town with a fantastic tidal estuary. The power of the water as it funnels through a fairly narrow channel to fill the much wider space behind, is phenomenal. We visited Brittany last summer and the tidal barrage across The Rance river. near St Malo. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wi...

PLEASE READ: FOR CRITIQUE & DISCUSSION
For those of us who work with colleagues, it is easy to get very open and honest feedback and critique of the work we produce. We can problem solve, try new things and see if they work. The "have you tried?" or "what about doing this?" kind of moment. But for so many Forum member...

An embroidery on crushed velvet fabric with a supporting calico layer underneath. Double layer laced around a padded support board. Nielsen Matrix deep angled mirror frame used as a slip and to space the AR99 glass. We trimmed the back edge off to fit it more snugly into the rebate of the Larson Juh...

Re: Restoration / Framing a Flag
Hi Marty That's quite some job! I would be looking to find a Textile Conservator to work with on this one with the customer. You can search ICON's website register here -> https://www.conservationregister.com/ or if there is no-one close enough to you, the other thing to do is contact your nearest m...

If you're looking for training in Ireland, you won't find better than Sharon-Lee McKee. https://www.fineart.co.uk/directory/dromore-picture-framing-mrs-sharon-lee-mckee-gcf_1506.aspx?DirectorySearchPageId=3 I'd second that! She would be happy to take enquiries I'm sure, but I think training ...

Hi Jamie
Welcome to the Forum. Hopefully various members can help with any of your framing queries.
Feel free to pop the unwanted items you have on the Sales/Wanted section to see if they'd be useful for anyone.
The other location that gets plenty of framing equipment on it is Ebay.

If you do a new message then in the section below you will see two tabs - options and attachments.
Click on attachments.
Click on add files.
It will allow you to add a photo (easy from a phone or computer but I tend to find the phone is easier)
Do preview to see how it looks.
Then submit.

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!
Love those frames Jim, such a simple and clever idea but brilliantly executed. YPF - I know just how much time it takes to do something like that well, and that looks fantastic. Things that look simple to achieve so often aren’t! My example for today is just a mounted original oil on paper. We’ve on...
