Re: Advice please

Welcome to the forum Jim :handshake: If you can read the serial number you can check the age of the machine here: http://www.morso-guillotines.dk/resources/history.html You'll find the serial number where I've indicated and you'll also see the letter F which means it is a model F, same as mine and m...

Re: Cassis wedges compatible with Gielle underpinned?

Do you normally finish the oak with oil? I used to use clear wax on all my oak frames but now much prefer an oil finish. I use Liberon finishing oil typically about 4 or 5 coats. So often I see, when out and about at art fairs, exhibitions etc., unfinished oak frames that to me look, well, unfinish...

Re: Cassis wedges compatible with Gielle underpinned?

Welcome to the FF Matt :handshake:

Can't say if Cassese wedges are compatible with you Gielle or not but Wessex do have Gielle wedges listed on their website:

https://www.wessexpictures.com/Gielle_Wedges.html

Probably best to use the correct wedges for your machine.

Re: Backing a print

Can I ask what you've got against it, as I've used it occasionally, with the customer's agreement. Is it because it's not a reversible method? I'm only against using self adhesive board in this particular case. Kev stated he is a complete beginner so I thought it best he doesn't attempt to use SA b...

Re: Backing a print

Welcome to the FF :handshake:

Step away from the self adhesive board :giggle:

Justintime is right to mention using hinges, that's the way to go.

Although it's out of stock.
Their website shows over 600m available?

Try Rose and Hollis, their slips are thinner but not as wide.

Good suggestion from YPF.

Re: Fixing art work

A sink mount would work with this job and totally reversible too... which is nice 8)

Here's a description from The Mounting and Laminating Handbook, by Chris A. Paschke:
(It's pretty much the same as prospero's method.)

Re: chop service for a local artist??

Try taking a bag of spuds into your local fish 'n' chippy shop and see what sort of reaction you get when you ask them to peel them, cut them and cook them :giggle:

Offer a cut and join bare wood frame for them to finish how they want but only if you supply the moulding :D

Re: How to adhere foam board spacers to aluminium moulding

This isn't really answering your question but, you can get aluminium moulding that has a 'built in' glass spacer as it were. The design has a separate slot for the glass.

Re: Final finish for hand painted frames..

I’ve been using Winsor & Newton Galeria Acrylic paints recently and I’m thinking I won’t bother with F&B anymore. It’s much easier to mix the paints straight from the tube rather than from a tin pot! I find the quality and consistency of the paint to be good and so far have been able to mix ...
