Re: Wastage continued & RMFs

My post seems to have disappeared, sorry if it comes back and I'm repeating myself! There will almost definitely be an art group or two that meet in your local community centre and would be overjoyed to get your scrap mountboard. Backing board too probably. It's good to paint on when resources and m...

Re: FrameCo Benchmaster

Do you have any hardwood mouldings you need to pin or do you just want to know that it can handle them?

My cassesse is probably more than capable of it but I don't think I've ever pinned a hard wood frame.

Remember, you decide what choices a customer has.

Re: Excalibur failure - anybody have bits 'for parts'?

I had the same thing not long ago. It was a woman's first shift using it and the handle came off in her hand! She was mortified.

Had to get the whole bit from Keencut. Hundred odd pounds :sweating:

Moulding ID

Anyone recognise this?

Doesn't seem overly fancy, but can't seem to find it anywhere!

Cheers!

Re: not a morso

Wonder why anyone would go to the effort of doing that...

I had assumed it was just a morso rip off...right down to the morso green, but I guess that would make sense...

not a morso

Hi,

We've acquired a machine that looks a lot like a morso...

Does anyone know anything about it? Had a quick google and couldn't come up with much. Is it any good?

Any thoughts welcome!

Re: How to secure spoons to the backboard?

I would happily advise the customer what kind of wax or other products to use. Definitely wouldn't be doing it myself unless I knew what I was doing (and, maybe more importantly , was charging appropriately for it!). Also, I would have thought that wanting to take them out and using glue to st...

Absolutely. I'll bet there are a few IP lawyers who are smart and know their business too, but I wouldn't take their advice on stacking mouldings or cutting v-grooves...

In fact, I'd say it's the only way to interpret and apply them to a framing context!

If you require more info' from FF members regarding copyright - enter "copyright" in the search box top right and over 250 matches comes up  Lots of bed time reading there :giggle: Peter Unfortunately, most of it written by people with very little understanding of copyright law! :D...

Re: Lost property

Under *no* circumstances pay for legal advice. In OP's case it is £800 worth of framing. Raw materials probably £150-£200 some of which could probably be recycled anyway. So his loss is reasonably small apart from his time. The moment lawyers are involved then his likely loss immediately gets large...

I imagine going without the left hand support wouldn't be too big a problem.

If you could find something anywhere the right height to support the moulding you'd be laughing.

It's worth remembering...as narrow as humanly possible means just that.

So it'll be as narrow as possible for this size.

Floater frames

I generally try to avoid them but I guess I can't keep avoiding them forever! There was a heap of plain obeche L shaped moulding in the workshop when I started and I've always just painted that as required. The customer now has 2 canvasses which are about 1.5" deep and he want's a wide chunky b...

Re: Thin black frames

Does anyone else get 'thin black frame' as the standard thing that customers ask for when they don't know what they want? Never sure if it's just me...

Also hate narrow frames. Going to have to have a go at pimping up my cs-88 though! Something with a bit more grip sounds helpful.
