Thanks "Jolly Good". Nice to know that these gadgets work.
Having read the other post on the subject, it seems that I am not alone. Thanks for the help.

What a fantastic turn of phrase. Made me smile. I will have to think of a way of using that in a conversation today.prospero wrote: general embuggerance

Re: Fixing backboard when flush with moulding
Well that seems to have opened a can of worms, which was not the intention but is never the less interesting as ever. Thanks for the constructive suggestions. My old IT boss from time to time contacts me to see if I am bored yet, in need of mental stimulation and wanting to return to the vipers nest...

Re: Setting-up
Hello Alan, Firstly good luck, it is a route that a lot of people on here seem to have taken or are taking. Agree with Shaggy re the DIY Framing courses. I firstly did the basic weekend to supplement my photography hobby. The instructor was excellent though I gather he has now set up on his own and ...

Re: Fixing backboard when flush with moulding
Thank you Ian, I am using MDF for this as it is marginally thinner than the Art-Bak. I have seen a little gadget in the Lion catalogue to bevel edges for exactly that problem, sometimes you need someone else to remind you. I may try that with a small plane to see how it looks.

Re: Fixing backboard when flush with moulding
Hello Robo, Thanks for the constructive suggestions. The back is just about perfectly flush so pointing over the barrier and sticking the backboard is a good option. Re the "excess cloth": After stretching the needlework there is quite an excess of cloth left over which I have folded in be...

[Merged] Fixing backboard when flush with moulding
Hello all. I have just put together a needlework piece which when assembled (glass, double mount, spacer mount, foamboard holding the needlework, foamboard to hold excess cloth, barrier and backboard) leaves the back surface of the backboard flush with the bottom edge of the moulding. I could use a d...

Re: WANTED: Morso bits & underpinner
Hello johnwphotography "I am unsure whether the expense of the measuring system is justified." I am relatively new to using the Morso myself having graduated from saws and a guillotine. All I can advise is that if you are producing more than one frame of the same size the measuring system ...

Hello Mitreman. From your profile - "Supporting Southend United". Wow, that is tough at the moment. Was a guest in the Blues Lounge for the Port Vale game. Looks like you will have a long hard year! Good luck.

Copyright and web sites
I would like to post some pictures of completed framing jobs on my new web site. It has occurred to me however that some of the work contained therein may be copyright sensitive. For example I have recently framed some small Picasso prints, could I put pictures of those on my site or are the prints ...

Re: Tibetan Artwork - Help Needed
Look forward to seeing the result FF. The work was purchased specifically for the bathroom. I will use water resistant materials throughout. Approx purchase price was £350 so a great deal of care will be taken.

Re: Moulding help required
The more you find out, the more interesting it all becomes. I think hand making is the only option, though something else in a similar width and shade will suffice for this job. I will have a go at trying to create something similar to satisfy my own curiosity and will post the result here if it loo...

Re: Moulding help required
Thanks for the info Prospero. Its interesting to find out a bit of background information. It helps me manage my own expectations too. I thought about the re-framing option Keith but it looks too good as is and the customer likes the "old" feel, so I will look for the similar option instead.

Re: Tibetan Artwork - Help Needed
I have a similar artwork to frame, an "Aboriginal original" from Australia. I like the "sandwich" approach for presentation, any thoughts on how it could be made moisture proof, it is destined for a bathroom? If I use a waterproof backing board, could the complete sandwich be tap...

Re: Moulding help required
Robo, thanks for your reply. I doubt I will be able to find the same, it actually looks like an attempt to create a marble effect! I think something mid-brown with a gold inset will be as close as we can get. It is for an old map print and will hang on the opposite side of the customers dining room ...

Moulding help required
Hello All. First of all, I am new to the business and the board. I have already found the content and mutual assistance offered helpful, so thanks already for that. I have some questions about moulding. Do you tend to have accounts with all the moulding suppliers? The ranges offered are wide, are so...
