This week's miracle

Post by prospero »

This is a little silk print that a guy brought in one day.

Image

I made the frame ages ago just as a tryout for the finish. It's blue base with dilute black stippled on top. Waxed and a thin wash of bright green on top. This 'beads up' over the wax and I left it to dry in patches. The inner ornate piece is a separate moulding which was powder gilded.

I was scratching my head wondering what would suit it when I noticed the frame propped up a chair. Grabbed it and plonked it over the silk and it looked great. What's more it was just the right size. Just an even 25mm gap all around. Added the gold slip under the glass.... Bingo.

Isn't it nice when that happens?

The Madonna of the Chevrons.

I am fully expecting the std glass to be transmuted to museum glass in the morning.
